"Sweet with vanilla, salted dark chocolate and dark berries on the nose at first, but then savory aromas of wild herbs and grilled just barely gamy meat. Berries and chocolate continue on the palate, with sanguine, meaty undertones still guaranteeing a richness and depth. Just delicious. — Danielle Callegari"

"This single-vineyard blend of Sangiovese and Merlot from the Bertinga vineyard, owned by Castello di Ama until 2015, is a superb wine. The Sangiovese is vinified in concrete then aged in large Stockinger casks, while the Merlot is vinified in stainless steel and aged in 500l tonneaux. It rests in bottle for four years before release. The result shines for its bright and juicy outlook, the alberese soil having its presence felt in the lovely sapidity and mineral tang which accompanies hedgerow fruits and herbal notes on the textured palate. The finish is full of bold, ripe red, black and blue berries yet carries elegance and freshness."

2022 Bouchard Pere & Fils 1er Cru Beaune Greves Vigne De L'enfant Jesus
96 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
Often consumers expect a great Burgundy to be a dramatic and showy wine. This is an ideal example of how Burgundian greatness often expresses itself more gently. The harmony of red-fruit character with superfine tannins, plus excellent concentration and really silky tannins on the medium-bodied palate marks this out as a truly exceptional wine for the appellation. Delicious though it is now, try to give it some time in the glass to reveal its delicately spicy mystery. From a 3.9 hectare parcel in the middle of the slope of the 1er Cru Greves, where there's never any hydric stress. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Stuart Pigott Senior Editor
96 Charles Curtis MW - Decanter
The 2022 Baby Jesus is a wine of gorgeous intensity, with alluringly ripe aromas of blackberry and plum with notes of peony and spice. The forward fruits continue on the palate as intensely sweet and silky, with a density and grip that are only apparent with time. The grapes are from nearly four hectares of vines, although only the oldest vines and most concentrated fruit are used for this bottling, with some declassified into Beaune du Château. This wine will open in five to seven years and should easily drink for 30 more after the harvest.
93-95 Jasper Morris, MW - Inside Burgundy
More crimson than purple, with notably more presence than the other Beaunes. A range of fruits finishing with some black cherry after the dark red berries, a heightened intensity of fruit, with an excellent balance between tannin and acidity, and notable length. Not racked but has retained purity. Drink from 2030-2038.
92-94 William Kelley - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jesus is lovely, wafting from the glass with aromas of blackberries, spices, violets and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, broad and enveloping, with a fleshy attack that segues into a refined, mineral palate and a saline finish, it's a benchmark for the appellation.
91-94 Allen Meadows - Burghound
Note: from a huge 4-ha parcel. A slightly riper but brooding nose only grudgingly reveals it aromas of dark berries, earth and a whiff of leather. The noticeably denser medium-bodied flavors are at once caressing but powerful with both mouthcoating sap and tannins on the robust, serious and built-to-age finish. This excellent effort also always needs time in bottle and 2022 will again be no different.*Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!

If sunshine could be bottled it would be this. Aromas of fresh succulent stone fruit, a hint of yeast, citrus blossoms and notes of quince on the nose. The mousse is creamy and light with baked red apples, blood orange zest, white grapefruit, sticky caramel and layered salinity with a mouthwatering finish. It will bring a smile to your lips.

2022 Domaine Rollin Pernand Vergelesses Rouge 1er Cru 'Les Fichots'
87-89 Neal Martin - Vinous Media
The 2022 Pernand Vergelesses Rouge Les Fichots 1e Cru has a backward nose that needs encouragement in the glass, revealing dark berry fruit mixed with graphite and a whiff of gunpowder (that smell you get after a firework has taken off). The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy entry and moderate depth. This is lightly spiced, with an earthy finish that doesn't quite deliver the panache of Rollin's Les Cloux tasted alongside. Tasted at merchants' 2022 Burgundy tastings in London.

2020 Chateau Mouton Rothschild Ex Chateau Blend from France
#133801 750 mL
2020 Chateau Mouton Rothschild Ex Chateau
100 William Kelley - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2020 Mouton Rothschild is a striking wine and one that I regretted not purchasing en primeur as soon as it landed in my glass. Offering up complex aromas of minty cassis, pencil shavings, loamy soil, cigar wrapper, espresso roast and violets, it's medium to full-bodied, broad and layered, with terrific concentrated, beautifully refined tannins and a long, penetrating finish. Checking in at 12.8% alcohol, its incipient complexity, ineffable sense of completeness and exquisite balance mark it out as the purists' choice among the trio of 2018, 2019 and 2020. In this vintage, the lots that made it into the blend were largely confined to the core gravel terroirs that represent Mouton's heart, meaning that there's a little less to go around. This was the first vintage overseen by Mouton's new technical director, Jean-Emmanuel Danjoy, and he has begun with a flying start.
100 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
The purity of blackcurrants, blueberries, creme de cassis, and flowers. Hints of subtle spearmint. Iron. Blood orange. Medium-bodied with a compacted palate, like a cylinder of perfectly ripe fruit and fine tannins. A million layers of tight-grained tannins. It goes on and on. Such freshness and weightlessness to it. Ethereal. New classicism. Modern take on the 1986. 12.79% alcohol. 84% cabernet sauvignon, 13% merlot, 2% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot. Drink after 2030 but hard to not drink now.
100 Georgina Hindle - Decanter
Dark fruits on the nose, blackcurrants and cherries with savoury nuances of dark chocolate and tobacco. Fresh and forward on the palate, this hits you square on, still very lean and direct, almost piercing and severe in its intensity and drive, though wonderfully precise: it’s like an arrow. Serious and focussed yet full and layered, the texture is lovely, a slight graininess that lingers but it’s the acidity and the fruit purity that are so excellent - they give such a sense of vibrancy and make this wine so thrilling. You get a feeling of pent-up energy, but after a few minutes the slight density of the ripe fruit comes through, giving some plushness and weight. I love the Cabernet details and the mineral element that leaves the mouth cool and fresh. A well constructed, subtle beauty.
99 Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
Intense, concentrated, powerful, deeply spiced, fleshy but restrained, this inches open and feels vibrant, pure, chiselled, seamless, with an electric charge. Expect plenty of smoked and grilled cassis, bilberry and damson fruits, sandalwood and mint leaf. Has the 2020 signature where flavours are classically serious and balanced but intense, just a monumental Mouton with the freshness and architecture of 2016, edged with floral aromatics, wonderfully enticing and with presence. 100% new oak. First vintage for Jean-Emmanuel Danjoy as director, following Philippe Dhalluin's retirement. One of the wines of the vintage.
99 Antonio Galloni - Vinous
The 2020 Mouton Rothschild is very clearly one of the great, great wines of the Left Bank in 2020. All the elements are in perfect balance. A wine of total sensuality and nuance, Mouton is all finesse in 2020, all elegance. An explosion of dark cherry fruit, plum, pomegranate, mint and cinnamon are all amplified. From barrel, the 2020 Mouton hinted at greatness. Today, that greatness is evident. The rich, vibrant finish is a thing of beauty.
99 Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Truffles, cigar box, cedar chest, smoke, Cuban cigar wrapper, spice and dark, almost 100% cocoa, chocolate. Perfectly perched between its elegant and showy side, the fruits are silky, ripe, spicy, and intense, but in a relaxed manner. There is purity, length, and vibrancy, giving the wine a racy, sensuous appearance. The seamless finish is perfectly balanced, with all its layers of polished, sensuous, silky fruits. The wine blends 84% Cabernet Sauvignon,13% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, 13.1% ABV, pH 3.8. Yields were low at 32 hectoliters per hectare with only 49% of the harvest going into the Grand Vin, so not much wine was made. The harvest took place September 7-September 24. Drink 2028-2060

92 Antonio Galloni - Vinous
"The 2024 Blanc Sec Lions de Suduiraut is fabulous. Intensely aromatic and deep, the 2024 is so impressive right out of the gate. Orchard fruit, white flowers, sage, mint and tomato leaf race across the palate, framed by brisk acids that pull it all together."
92 Decanter
"Quite varietal on the nose, elderflower, green apple, white floral notes and some crisp peach elements. White peach and pear, super cool and clear, a light touch of acidity with a hint of citrus but this is more on stone fruit and mineral freshness. Not so plump really but balanced nonetheless and super easy to drink. Ends clean. Bottled in February 2025. Represents 75% of the production of dry wines. "
92 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
"Smoked herbs and gooseberries with stones and sliced apples. Really fresh and medium-bodied, with good a texture and finish. Very good balance. Drink now."

"Fermented in tank and barrel and already bottled, the 2024 Lions De Suduiraut Blanc is 56% Semillon, 29% Sauvignon Blanc, and the rest Sauvignon Gris. Clean, classic citrus, melon, minty herbs, and a kiss of spice all define the aromatics, and it's medium-bodied, with a vibrant, pure, clean style that's hard to resist."

93 Luis Gutierrez - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2022 Reserva Old Vines—or Reserva Vinhas Velhas, as it's labeled in Portugal—comes from a field blend of 30 to 40 different varieties from vines averaging 80 years of age. It's a serious, ripe and spicy Douro red with plenty of aromas of sweet spices and Mediterranean herbs, very open and aromatic. It feels riper this year and is still quite tannic and marked by the élevage in wood. I'd wait to pull the cork.

Here the wood influence is no longer subtle though it stops short of dominating the ripe and fresh green fruit, quinine and oyster shell-suffused nose. There is exceptionally good richness to the bigger and more powerful but not necessarily denser flavors that possess a finer mouthfeel before culminating in an impressively long finish where the wood resurfaces. This is perhaps not quite as elegant as it usually is but I like both the depth and persistence.

2009 Sine Qua Non This Is Not An Exit Grenache
#80912 750 mL
96 Jeb Dunnuck - jebdunnuck.com
More open, upfront and sexy, the 2009 Grenache This is Not an Exit is comprised of 79% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 3% Viognier and 3% Roussanne that spent 31 months in roughly 35% new French oak. Showing overflowing richness, with notions of incense, spice cake, potpourri and creamy raspberry fruit, it is a full-bodied, voluptuous and decadent Grenache geared for drinking over the coming decade or so. Drink now-2023. About as good as it gets across the board, these singular, incredible wines are the result of an obsessive attention to detail at all stages of the wine making process. There is no secret or hidden magic going on here. The incredibly talented and down-to-earth Manfred Krankl simply walks the walk as opposed to only talking about attention to detail or offering up the standard, wine is made in the vineyard comments. Looking at the vintages focused on here, 2009 has produced a decadent, voluptuous style that offers up thrilling levels of fruit as well as an approachable, heady richness that-s hard to resist. While they possess ample depth and structure, I would drink these before either the 2010s or 2011s. The 2010s here are stunning and have everything; gorgeous fruit, awesome concentration and incredible purity. While the most age-worthy of the recent vintages, they're a spectacular drink even today. The 2011s, which were all tasted out of barrel, have additional freshness and focus over the 2010s. They have solid concentration and overall balanced profiles that should allow them to cruise in the cellar.
