Boomslang is a multi-vintage blend of 2019, 2021, and 2022 fruit, and is crafted by Kevin Morrisey (formerly of Ehlers Estate). It's an incredibly easy-drinking, smooth Cabernet with just enough fine-grained tannins to layer in a bit of grippy texture, but for the most part, it's a pretty, red-fruited elegant Cabernet with good tension and energy. This makes me wish California wineries would do more non-vintage blends.

Ripe ruby/red in color, the 2022 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is ripe and spicy, with aromas of cherries, cinnamon, beet root, and incense. Medium-bodied, it has a weightless feel, a chalky, fine-grained texture, and a spicy finish with notes of gravelly earth. It floats away on the palate and will have a wide drinking window over the next 7-8 years.

"Very light straw-yellow with a whiff of minerally edginess, dried herbs and dried flowers, a faint suggestion of acetone, then a lemon-juicy palate that is generous and expansive at the same time as it retains its tautness and youthful reserve. There's a mandarin-like juiciness on the back-palate and finish, the aftertaste cleansingly dry. In all, a really delicious riesling that is already highly enjoyable and has a bright future."

The 2018 Hidden Vines Red Wine opens with inviting aromas of ripe blackberry, blueberry crumble, dark currants, tobacco, dried herbs and floral nuances. On the palate is offers a medium to full body with ripe juicy black and blue fruits that expand through the velvety finish.

“The 2021 Hidden Vines Cabernet Sauvignon of ripe plums and black cherries, layered with enticing aromas of warm spices, and hints of florals. On the palate, it displays a medium/full body with juicy dark fruit flavors laced with notes of spices and fresh-cut violets with an undertone of dark chocolate and subtle oak which all build into a velvety finish that lingers with a nice balance of dark fruits and hints of spices.”

A very good wine with the potential for excellence with cellaring and decanting but showing all of the right stuff in this youthful stage.
