The 2020 Rue Dell’Inchiostro Aglianico offers aromas of blackberries and plums followed by sweet spices, damp earth and hints of vanilla. The medium body is supported by a soft, round texture which leads up to the silky finish. Overall, a pleasant wine with no hard edges that should drink nicely upon release.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Lemoravo Vineyard is bright and effusive in feel. Sweet dried cherry, cedar, pipe tobacco, mint, crushed flowers and anise give the 2021 a super-appealing upper register. The Lemoravo is the most ethereal of these Pinots.

"Very light straw-yellow with a whiff of minerally edginess, dried herbs and dried flowers, a faint suggestion of acetone, then a lemon-juicy palate that is generous and expansive at the same time as it retains its tautness and youthful reserve. There's a mandarin-like juiciness on the back-palate and finish, the aftertaste cleansingly dry. In all, a really delicious riesling that is already highly enjoyable and has a bright future."

It floats away on the palate and will have a wide drinking window over the next 7-8 years.

A dark, deep and lavish wine where blackcurrants and blackberries are wrapped in the snug tannins of mountain-grown grapes. Spearmint, star anise, black cherries, cocoa and nutmeg vie for attention on the palate. Has plenty of structure for more aging and development. Drinkable now, but best from 2029.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Craftsman & Wolves which includes 5% Petit Verdot, offers a vivid purple hue as well as a classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon nose of wild blueberries, currants, iron, and Asian spices, with a kiss of background chocolately wood. It s medium-bodied, has ripe, present tannins, and a great finish. Coming from two rows of Clone 337 and aged in 75% new French oak, this rocking effort is perfect for drinking over the coming 15 years or more.

This winery's owner is longtime Tablas Creek winemaker Neil Collins, so no wonder this Rhône blend of 44% Grenache Blanc, 38% Viognier, 11% Roussanne and 7% Marsanne is masterfully crafted. Aromas of nectarine, melon and wet cement lead into a palate that's both zesty and broad. Apricot and tangerines flavors are cut by stone, chamomile and bright acidity.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Estate pours a rich ruby and offers pure, ripe aromas of fresh pine, black cherry, and toasted sage. This continues to the palate, with gorgeous ripe fruit that fills the palate with plush wild raspberry, smoky earth, and baking spice. Medium-bodied and long on the palate, with supple fruit up front and an excellent underlying structure, it’s drinking beautifully now but will benefit from another 6-12 months in bottle. It offers both immediacy and longevity. Drink 2023-2035.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Estate is a blend from the Cleary and Michael Vallentine ranches, both in Freestone. Bright and effusive, with striking depth, the 2021 is deep and beautifully layered right out of the gate. A rush of dark red/purplish fruit, rose petal, lavender, mint and blood orange build into the rish, heady finish. The 33% stems are not especially evident. This is the best wine I have tasted from Ernest so far. It would be great to see more wines here in this direction.
