Boomslang is a multi-vintage blend of 2019, 2021, and 2022 fruit, and is crafted by Kevin Morrisey (formerly of Ehlers Estate). It's an incredibly easy-drinking, smooth Cabernet with just enough fine-grained tannins to layer in a bit of grippy texture, but for the most part, it's a pretty, red-fruited elegant Cabernet with good tension and energy. This makes me wish California wineries would do more non-vintage blends.

There's a mandarin-like juiciness on the back-palate and finish, the aftertaste cleansingly dry. In all, a really delicious riesling that is already highly enjoyable and has a bright future."

Ripe ruby/red in color, the 2022 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is ripe and spicy, with aromas of cherries, cinnamon, beet root, and incense. Medium-bodied, it has a weightless feel, a chalky, fine-grained texture, and a spicy finish with notes of gravelly earth. It floats away on the palate and will have a wide drinking window over the next 7-8 years.

This 70,000-bottle release is creamy and rich in texture, with lots of plump primary flavors and absolutely no rough edges.

"With a new generation at the helm of the winery, this is very much a project identified with the young Tancredi Biondi Santi. This 2022 JeT Rosé is a Sangiovese-based rosato made with the special clones farmed at this Maremma estate. The vines are at a cool 520 meters in elevation and measure 12 hectares. However, there are a couple of rows of Cabernet Sauvignon at this site that are not used in this wine. This luminous expression shows cassis, wild berry and grapefruit. There are some dusty mineral notes and a hint of sweetness on the easy close. The first vintage produced was 2019."

This Pinot Noir is from the site just east of Freestone. Hawk Hill ranges in elevation from 120-200m. A blend of Pommard and clone 115, the aromatics of lilac, savoury herbs and tart black bramble fruits, with a piquant note of pine bough. The palate is linear with mouthfuls of savoury thyme and mint lifting concentrated wild berries and a smoky sea salt salinity that offers intensity and concentration at the finish, capped off by rooibos tea leaves. An intense Pinot that will grow into its elegance with time.

Some 38,000 bottles were made. Great job."
