Boomslang Napa Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Sauvignon from United States
#145016 750 mL
Boomslang Napa Cabernet Sauvignon
94 Decanter
Boomslang is a multi-vintage blend of 2019, 2021, and 2022 fruit, and is crafted by Kevin Morrisey (formerly of Ehlers Estate). It's an incredibly easy-drinking, smooth Cabernet with just enough fine-grained tannins to layer in a bit of grippy texture, but for the most part, it's a pretty, red-fruited elegant Cabernet with good tension and energy. This makes me wish California wineries would do more non-vintage blends.

#139308 750 mL
2022 Pauletts Polish Hill Riesling Clare Valley
96 The Real Review
Ranked #1 of 78 2022 Riesling from Clare Valley. "Very light straw-yellow with a whiff of minerally edginess, dried herbs and dried flowers, a faint suggestion of acetone, then a lemon-juicy palate that is generous and expansive at the same time as it retains its tautness and youthful reserve. There's a mandarin-like juiciness on the back-palate and finish, the aftertaste cleansingly dry. In all, a really delicious riesling that is already highly enjoyable and has a bright future."

Aromas of sweet berries, cherry liqueur and cola dominate the nose of this Pinot, while the palate is loaded with cedar cigar box, coffee and maraschino cherry. Ripe ruby/red in color, the 2022 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is ripe and spicy, with aromas of cherries, cinnamon, beet root, and incense. Medium-bodied, it has a weightless feel, a chalky, fine-grained texture, and a spicy finish with notes of gravelly earth. It floats away on the palate and will have a wide drinking window over the next 7-8 years.

The 2012 Quinault L'Enclos is a forward, open-knit wine with considerable near and medium-term appeal. Sweet tobacco, spices, blood orange, white pepper, crushed flowers and plums meld together in the 2012 Quinault L'Enclos. Sexy, radiant and supple, the 2012 is quite open today. The pliant, creamy finish adds to an overall impression of finesse. This is a gorgeous 2012.

A fine and complex wine with walnuts, berries and coffee beans. Full to medium body, firm and fine tannins and a tangy finish. Stones and other minerals. This needs a year or two to soften.

2019 La Nascosta Orcia Rosso Saltamacchia
92 Eric Guido - Vinous Media
The 2019 Orcia Rosso Saltamacchia opens with an intense mix of crushed sour cherries and wild berries, accentuated by savory herbs. It flows across the palate, silky and nearly salty in character, with mineral-tinged red fruits that slowly saturate. Violet inner florals linger as the 2019 finishes medium in length, lightly structured and pleasantly bitter. The Saltamacchia is a blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot. Nicely done.
92 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
Savory, zesty nose with some bitter oranges, iron, stones, cloves and nutmeg. Really juicy and firm but nothing chewy here. Medium body on the palate followed by a focused, savory finish. 90% sangiovese and 10% merlot. Drink now through to 2030.
The nose is sweet yet textured, with aromas of cherry blossom, wild strawberry, raspberry jam and candied citrus peel. On the palate, the cherries, strawberries and raspberries all reappear, and a healthy salinity brings a balancing freshness.
17-20 Jancis Robinson's Purple Pages
Pale ruby. Plashy sour-cherry and bramble-berry fruit, kicking with energy and crunchy acidity. The tannins are slender but feisty, spiced with cinnamon and cardamom, and the wine has a brisk, uplifting focus. The finish is lavender fragrant, holding a touch of wet terracotta stone, a trace of Aleppo pepper, and is very, very neat. Real character, real harmony. Very genuine, really complete.

2022 Castello Di Montepo Jet Rose
90 Monica Larner - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"With a new generation at the helm of the winery, this is very much a project identified with the young Tancredi Biondi Santi. This 2022 JeT Rosé is a Sangiovese-based rosato made with the special clones farmed at this Maremma estate. The vines are at a cool 520 meters in elevation and measure 12 hectares. However, there are a couple of rows of Cabernet Sauvignon at this site that are not used in this wine. This luminous expression shows cassis, wild berry and grapefruit. There are some dusty mineral notes and a hint of sweetness on the easy close. The first vintage produced was 2019."

2019 Podere Brizio Brunello Di Montalcino
95 Wine Spectator
"Black cherry, blackberry, plum, violet and mineral flavors are the hallmarks of this pure, dense and robust red, which is squarely in the fruity camp, yet bumps up against pointed tannins on the finish. The lasting impression is both fruit and tannins, so this should work itself out in a few years. Best from 2027 through 2043. 3,000 cases made, 1,600 cases imported. -BS"
94+ Monica Larner - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The organic Podere Brizio 2019 Brunello di Montalcino (in a heavy glass bottle) shows pretty aromas of crushed stone, dried raspberry, redcurrant, cherry cola and blue flower. The elegance and finer qualities of this wine are what stand out most, and you get pretty definition and sharpness along the way. The finish is lean, tonic, lifted and bright.
