Lemon confit, marzipan, white flowers and a gentle kiss of French oak infuse the Chardonnay with tons of character, offering lovely texture while retaining tons of freshness. It's a terrific wine, especially for the year.

The 2021 Brunello Di Montalcino comes from a warm but not extreme growing season, helped by timely rain and a normal harvest window. It pours a deep ruby red hue and opens with black raspberries, violets, fresh earth, licorice, and rosemary. Medium to full-bodied, it feels more vertical and energetic than the 2020, with a bright spine of acidity, well-defined tannins, and a long, focused finish that stays light on its feet. Drink 2026-2040.

The 2021 Brunello di Montalcino is an understated beauty, mixing dusty rose and lavender with shavings of blood orange and black cherries. It is surprisingly juicy yet elegant and refined, as ripe wild berry fruits slowly drench the palate in primary concentration. Structured and dramatically long, the 2021 finishes spicy and intense with nuances of citrus, clove and licorice. The complexity here is off the charts and the energy is incredible.

Tasted prior to bottling, the 2023 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills is dark-fruited, woody and faintly floral, with a sappy, anise-driven side that appears with aeration. The palate is surprisingly generous in texture with a twisted, sturdy and inward tannic profile that should soften and come together after bottling.

The 2023 Barbera d'Alba Serra is a classy, polished wine. Sweet floral notes and silky tannins give the 2023 tons of charm. Rose petals, spice, tobacco and orange peel all come alive in the glass. This vibrant Barbera is a winner.

Showing medium-plus richness, the Paitin 2023 Barbera d'Alba Serra offers the potency of the grape but manages an elegant and streamlined style. It opens to dark fruit, dried blueberry and sweet potting soil. To the palate, the wine is short and to the mark. The 2023 vintage is quite subdued, but that's a quality to appreciate in Barbera.
