2021 Whitehall Lane Napa Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Sauvignon from United States
#142557 750 mL
2021 Whitehall Lane Napa Cabernet Sauvignon
91 Joe Czerwinski - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The price of Whitehall Lane's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon has gone up 20% since I reviewed the 2019, but past experience is that savvy shoppers may be able to find it slightly discounted. It still represents a decent value in the realm of Napa Cabernet. Black cherries and dusty loam notes are joined by hints of sage and thyme plus barrel-derived accents of vanilla and maple syrup. Medium to full-bodied, it's silky and supple, easy to drink, yet with enough structure to partner rare beef.

"Fresh and lively, with a leesy hint of bread dough mixing with candied berry, quince paste, lemon zest, wax and fleur de sel. Fine-grained, with a lip-smacking, juicy finish. Disgorged April 2011. Drink now through 2018. –AN (Tasted 11/11)"

2021 Ridge Lytton Estate Petite Sirah Petite Sirah from United States

2021 Ridge Lytton Estate Petite Sirah
93 Billy Norris - Vinous Media
Comprising 100% Petite Sirah from Ridge’s Lytton Estate in the Dry Creek Valley, the 2021 Petite Sirah Estate is a brooding, savory, forbiddingly tannic red that clubs you over the head with power and intensity. Leather, oil-cured olive, lavender and sappy blackberry fruit run through this particularly rustic, animalistic edition of Lytton Petite. The fruit is plush and velvety beneath the monstrous structure, but it’s going to take a while to settle this beast down.
92 Erin Brooks - Robert Parker's the Wine Advocate
The 2021 Petite Sirah Lytton Estate opens with initial touches of tar and struck flint that give way to black cherries and currants, wild thyme, pencil shavings, coffee grounds and earth. The full-bodied palate is elegantly styled, its chalky tannins nestled into concentrated, perfumed flavors. Its vibrant acidity adds to its elegance, and it has a long, latent finish. Give it 3–5 years in bottle.

92 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
Focused and nicely structured, with aromas of red plums, forest floor, crushed violets and tobacco that carry into a medium- to full-bodied palate. The tannins are firm but integrated, holding a vivid line of acidity that gives the finish clarity and tension. From organically grown grapes. Sustainable. Drink or hold.

2022 Groth Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon from United States
#147619 750 mL
2022 Groth Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville
This young wine is impressively concentrated, tannic and tight at this stage of its development, but it carries the proper amount of dark fruit, dark chocolate and heady oak spices to gain complexity with age. The tannins are full and a bit edgy for current drinking. Best from 2029.

2021 Monsanto Chianti Classico Riserva Sangiovese from Italy
#148811 750 mL
2021 Monsanto Chianti Classico Riserva
95 Wine Spectator
This luscious, dense red is packed with cherry, blackberry, pomegranate and violet flavors. Its tannins are ripe and refined, while the vibrant acidity keeps everything focused. An iron streak weaves through the long, energetic finish. This is approachable now yet will be better in 2–3 years. Best from 2026 through 2045. 833 cases made, 400 cases imported.
94 Antonio Galloni - Vinous
The 2021 Chianti Classico Riserva is a wine of pedigree and class. Aromatic, vibrant and delineated, the Riserva captures all the best qualities of the year. Crushed flowers, dark red/purplish fruit, mint, blood orange and pomegranate are some of the many notes that build in the glass. This is a sublime effort.
