Restrained dark bramble fruit and vibrant spiciness, with notes of cold coffee, earth and bay leaves. The attack is dense and velvety, with thick, ripe tannins that are a bit sandy. Ripe and full-bodied with crisp acidity and good length focused on graphite. Power and grace, with a restrained chocolate aftertaste. Drink or hold.

97 Jeb Dunnuck - jebdunnuck.com
Coming from a mix of noteworthy sites in the valley and mostly Cabernet (there's some Merlot in the blend, I believe), the 2018 Napa Valley Red Wine sports a dense purple color to go with a full-bodied, opulent, monster of a wine that carries loads of red and black fruits, notes of spiced meats, dried tobacco, and chocolate, ripe tannins, integrated oak, and a wonderfully mouth-filling texture. This is about as opulent and sexy as 2018 gets and it's well worth seeing out. It's going to put a smile on your face any time over the coming 15-20 years.

97 Robert Parker - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"One of the most spectacular 1994s, this opaque purple-colored wine is an exotic, flamboyant, ostentatious port. Extremely fragrant and pungent, with a flashy display of jammy cassis, pepper, licorice, and truffles, this port is an attention-grabber. Awesomely rich, and full-bodied, with superb length, richness, and overall balance, it possesses a huge mid-palate, layers of flavor, an unctuous texture, and a blockbuster finish. Everything is in place, with the brandy and tannin well-integrated, even concealed by the masses of fruit and glycerin. This wine will drink fabulously well at age ten, but keep for up to thirty years. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2035."

2022 Bernard Levet Cote Rotie "Les Journaries" Syrah from France
#147644 750 mL
2022 Bernard Levet Cote Rotie "Les Journaries"
Aged for a year in foudre then moved to demi-muids, the 2022 Côte Rôtie Les Journaries (known by the Maestria name in Europe) comes from the Landonne and Côte Rozier lieux-dits and was not destemmed. It has a similar perfume to the Amethyste with its red, blue, and black fruits as well as rose, potpourri, and peppery notes, yet it's more seamless, full-bodied, beautifully balanced, and has a great finish. Drink 2025-2047.
93-95 Yohan Castaing - Robert Parker's the Wine Advocate
The 2022 Cote Rotie Les Journaries (as it is known in the USA but called Mastria elsewhere) unveils a deep, complex bouquet of cassis, spices and dark wild berries intertwined with delicate notes of dark cherries and black olives. Full-bodied, broad and sappy on entry, it's textured and layered, with a seamless, pure core of fruit, powdery tannins and bright acids. It culminates in a long, ethereal and dark berry-inflected finish. Originating from vines situated in the western part of La Landonne (Côte Blonde and Côte Rozier), this exquisite wine masterfully combines a sappy, velvety texture with a racy density.

91 Luis Gutierrez - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2021 Las Cabañuelas is a blend from different plots in the Jorco Valley, all between 40 and 60 years of age and at altitudes between 700 and 830 meters above sea level on granite soils. The destemmed grapes fermented in concrete with a 32-day maceration and matured for 14 months in a 10,000-liter oak vat they bought from Alión. It's primary, fruit driven and ripe, with freshness and balance, and it has 14% alcohol, good acidity, fine-grained tannins and a clean, tasty finish. 13,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2023.

2021 Paolo Scavino Barolo Bussia Vigna Fantini
98 Kerin O'Keefe - kerinokeefe.com
The newest addition to Paolo Scavino’s already impressive Barolo lineup, the 2021 Bussia Vigna Fantini another drop-dead beauty from the estate. Hailing from a vineyard the family purchased in 2018 where the previous owner had planted different clones of Nebbiolo including the Rosé variety, it’s intense and fragrant, opening with heady scents of rose, iris, cake spice and menthol. Full-bodied but boasting a weightless concentration, the enveloping, delicious palate doles out raspberry compote, ripe Morello cherry, licorice and vanilla before a minty close. Velvety tannins provide seamless support while fresh acidity keeps it well balanced. Drink 2031–2041. Abv: 15%
98 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
A super-fresh and elegant Barolo with leafy lightness, red currants, watermelon, licorice and a touch of sweet violets on the nose. Slight sweetness on the palate, with a lot of minty flavors, a full body, fresh acidity and quite firm yet velvety tannins. Great overall harmony, with a savory aftertaste and a lavish finish.

Aromas of Golden Delicious apples and peaches explode from the glass, followed by a slightly sweet and buttery note that unleashes an intense craving for lemon shortbread cookies. The wine feels crisp and fresh in the mouth, with flavors like lemon shaved ice, cinnamon and a hint of coconut oil. Great acidity.
