The 2022 Monthélie Rouge has a lifted well-defined bouquet with cranberry and wild strawberry quite ripe and fleshy without being overbearing. Just generous. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannins. It?s extremely elegant with piquant red fruit and a little spice on the finish. What a superb Monthélie from Anne Morey. (Drink between 2024 - 2033).

The 2020 Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills) is a rich, bombastic wine. A rush of dark cherry/plum fruit, mocha, licorice, scorched earth, chocolate and game all race across the palate. There is a bit of wildness in the 2020 that lends exoticism. This is a very good example of a wine from a warm vintage in a south-facing site. It's certainly not a shy wine, let's leave it at that. All of this fruit is from Mt. Carmel.

Black cherry, leather, spice, tobacco, menthol and dried herbs inform this potent, super-classic Chianti Classico. This is beautifully done, especially for the year.

Walking the line between cherry and berry flavors and earth and iron notes, this red is bright and juicy midpalate, firming up on the long finish. Balanced overall, needing a year to knit together. Best from 2026 through 2033. 22,000 cases made, 6,500 cases imported.

Floral aromatics of smoky violets, dried lavender and dusty red and black berry fruits mark this wine from Vivid Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills. The palate is fleshy, with wild mountain berries, and hints of freshly turned forest soils, and finished with dried wild herbs.

Its class is clear, and it doesn't need to shout about it with ambitious posturing or fancy winemaking. It is pure and simple fruit finesse. Sitting delicately on the palate, it is all about elegance and simply being. I would give it a higher mark, but it doesn’t have the length it needs, but then I don't think the Foreaus much care about ratings.
