Chewy and fleshy but ripe and juicy too, a good combination that really fills the mouth all the while staying sleek and finessed. I like this expression, great definition and detail while still being really enjoyable. It has structure and power with clearly ripe fruit and fleshy tannins. Grippy and with plenty of personality. Organic. Tasted twice.

The 2024 Barbera d'Alba is another stellar entry-level wine from Burlotto. Dark red/purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal, sage and mocha caress the palate. Fabio Alessandria did not bottle Aves, his top Barbera; instead, all of the fruit was used for this bottling. As a result, the 2024 is especially strong. Stylistically, there is a touch of new oak from the Aves lots that went into the blend.

This is quite zesty, with a reverberation of bright acidity up front that enlivens its tart wild berry fruits as rosy inner florals form toward the close. It tapers off classically dry and gently tannic while a sour cranberry crunchiness lingers on. This is a wickedly fresh vintage of Ceraso.
