This beautiful Chardonnay from five top Grand Cru vineyards is textured with fruit that is still impressively perfumed. Its concentration has allowed it to remain perennially young. Although there are hints of toastiness, the Champagne has many more years of potential. Drink now and at least up to 2027.

The 2013 Comtes de Champagne is a towering Champagne, as it was last year. Rich, sumptuous and explosive, the 2013 soars out of the glass with a captivating mix of tropical fruit, apricot, passion fruit, baked apple tart, mint and yellow flowers. It is one of the most explosive, extroverted Comtes I have ever tasted. Impressive.

The Marilyn Monroe of Champagne, with voluptuous notes of lemon meringue, poached apricot, black cherry, brioche and candied ginger trimmed nicely by sleek, mouthwatering acidity. A minerally underpinning of smoke and oyster shell pushes through to drive the finish. It's hard to stop sipping this bright and harmonious bubbly. Drink now through 2038. 1,500 cases imported.

The 2013 Brut Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne's bouquet is compellingly fresh and minty, revealing aromas of white fruit—notably pear and apple—marzipan and sweet spices, as well as a light touch of citrus mingled with classy autolytic notes. On the palate, this is a structured, tensile and ethereal Champagne with high acidity—a sign of a classic vintage—animated by a mousse of striking finesse and delicacy. Although already enjoyable, it should develop well for several decades.

The 2021 Cascina delle Rose Rio Sordo is another stunner from this fantastic estate starting with its compelling aromas of forest berry, camphor, wild rose and dark exotic spice. More firmly structured than Tre Stelle and Marcorino, it has tightly wound, fine-grained tannins that support juicy Morello cherry, raspberry, licorice and ground clove while fresh acidity keeps it balanced and energized. Minty herbs come together with split pine, graphite and gravel dust before settling on peppery wildberries as the radiant 2017 Alzero smolders up from the glass. It is elegant, seamless and silken, with masses of ripe raspberry and cherry tones underscored by autumnal spice and hints of dark chocolate, all guided by a wave of vibrant acidity. It finishes with dramatic length and heroic structure, leaving a staining of primary concentration and a pleasantly bitter tinge of clove that lingers impossibly long. This is an Alzero for the ages.

The 2022 Carménère Clos del Luz Massal 1945 is sourced from an old vineyard planted in Almahue in the Cachapoal Valley. Garnet in hue, it features aromas of plums and white pepper along with a faint green bell pepper note. Indulgent and rich, the ample and juicy palate finishes with a note of black tea. This infusion-like red showcases a clever take on the variety, offering a light yet flavorful palate.
