2022 Vietti Nebbiolo Perbacco
93 Monica Larner - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Some fruit from Roncaglie goes into this wine, along with tidbits from other scattered Barolo vineyards. Aged for two years in large oak barrel, the Vietti 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco is not too far off from tasting and smelling like a full-fledged Barbaresco, or even a Barolo for that matter, since it does technically have the DNA of both. The fruit is delivered with fresh, vertical intensity, and the wine's texture is firm and tensile. I like this vintage more than I thought I would.

2023 Descendientes De Jose Palacios Bierzo Petalos Mencia/Jaen from Spain
#151271 750 mL
2023 Descendientes De Jose Palacios Bierzo Petalos
93+ Luis Gutierrez - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2023 PĂ©talos has around 20% grapes from CorullĂłn and the rest bought from around 100 families across Bierzo, approximately 91% MencĂa, 8% whites and 1% other reds that fermented in open-top oak and stainless steel vats with indigenous yeast. Malolactic fermentation took a couple of months in oak and stainless steel, and the wine matured in barriques and bocoyes for 10 months. It comes in at 13% alcohol with a pH of 3.74. It has a serious nose that combines berry fruit with herbs and a licorice twist, and it is a little tighter and more herbal, denoting more sensation of freshness in the wine even if the year was also warmish. But the peaks of heat did not reach the highs they did in 2022. It makes you think of the Bierzo wines from yesteryear, with the rain during the harvest. It's elegant but there's weight. Despite the price level, this is a wine that aged beautifully in bottle, something you don't expect in an entry-level wine. Final production figures were as expected, 297,867 bottles. The wine was bottled between January and April 2025. This keeps its position as one of the best values in Spain.

2024 Wohlmuth Sudsteiermark Sauvignon Blanc 'Phyllit'
90 Stephan Reinhardt - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The just-bottled 2024 Phyllit Sauvignon Blanc is pure, fresh, crystalline and saline on the elegant and laser-precise nose that intermingles bright stone and passion fruit with cumin and saline notes of crushed slate. Round and intense on the palate, this is a medium- to full-bodied, juicy and textural Sauvignon with fine tannins and a certain power on the finish. 12.5% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure. Tasted in April 2025.

Yellow apple, hard pineapple and crisp acidity provide an energetic and textural context for stone fruit and sumac. A kiss of sweet spice is threaded throughout, as is a filigree of minerality. Drink now.
91 Jeb Dunnuck - jebdunnuck.com
Melon, stone fruits, brioche, and honeyed flower notes all shine in the 2023 Chardonnay, a medium-bodied, juicy, lively Chardonnay that has integrated acidity and a supple, hard-to-resist style. It's a terrific value. Drink bottles over the coming 3-5 years. Drink 2025-2030.
91 Billy Norris - Vinous Media
The 2023 Chardonnay is delicious. Bright and lifted, it's a wine of notable energy and cut, with excellent delineation of flavors. Ripe tropical fruit, spice and chalk meld together in this characterful Chardonnay.

2024 Arnot Roberts Fox Creek Vineyard Pinot Noir
95 Antonio Galloni - Vinous
"The 2024 Pinot Noir Fox Creek Vineyard is a seriously beautiful wine. It emerges from a site in Carmel Valley planted on granitic soils at 1,100 feet in elevation. Dark, layered and resonant, the Fox Creek Pinot is superb. There's gorgeous depth and textural resonance here. Wild cherry, iron, tobacco, menthol, licorice and rose petal build effortlessly through the mid-palate and into the finish. The 100% stems are beautifully woven into the wine's fabric. Superb."

2024 Chateau Haut Marbuzet Blend from France

2024 Chateau Haut Marbuzet
86-88 Yohan Castaing - Robert Parker's the Wine Advocate
A blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, the 2024 Haut-Marbuzet shows a more reserved and austere character than in recent vintages. It opens with aromas of dark berries, flowers and subtle spices. Medium-bodied, the wine is juicy and supple, driven by tangy acidity and framed by firm tannins that lead to a compact, somewhat short finish. Hailstorms significantly impacted the Marbuzet plateau, and the damage is evident in the diminished quality and concentration of this year’s wine.

2023 Domaine La Monardiere Vacqueyras Les 2 Monardes Blend from France

2023 Domaine La Monardiere Vacqueyras Les 2 Monardes
92 John Gilman - View from the Cellar
“2023 Vacqueyras “Les 2 Monardes”- Domaine Monardière As I mentioned last year, the Vache family purchased this estate in 1987 and converted their vineyards over to organic farming in 2000. All of their vineyards are harvested by hand and their Vacqueyras “Les 2 Monardes” cuvée is made from a cépages of seventy percent grenache and thirty percent syrah. The vines that go into this bottling are forty years of age, with the bunches are destemmed and the wine fermented with native yeasts, prior to twelve months of élevage in a combination of tanks and used barrels. The 2023 Les 2 Monardes comes in at a svelte 13.5 percent octane in this vintage and delivers a simply superb bouquet of dark berries, grilled meats, pepper, bonfire, dark soil tones and a nice touch of upper register garrigue. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and complex, with an excellent core of fruit, firm, well-integrated tannins, fine balance and a long, promising finish. The wine will demand a few years in the cellar to soften up and blossom, but it is going to be excellent.”
