This beautiful Chardonnay from five top Grand Cru vineyards is textured with fruit that is still impressively perfumed. Its concentration has allowed it to remain perennially young. Although there are hints of toastiness, the Champagne has many more years of potential. Drink now and at least up to 2027.

The 2013 Comtes de Champagne is a towering Champagne, as it was last year. Rich, sumptuous and explosive, the 2013 soars out of the glass with a captivating mix of tropical fruit, apricot, passion fruit, baked apple tart, mint and yellow flowers. It is one of the most explosive, extroverted Comtes I have ever tasted. Impressive.

The Marilyn Monroe of Champagne, with voluptuous notes of lemon meringue, poached apricot, black cherry, brioche and candied ginger trimmed nicely by sleek, mouthwatering acidity. A minerally underpinning of smoke and oyster shell pushes through to drive the finish. It's hard to stop sipping this bright and harmonious bubbly. Drink now through 2038. 1,500 cases imported.

96 Yohan Castaing - Robert Parker's the Wine Advocate

The 2013 Brut Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne's bouquet is compellingly fresh and minty, revealing aromas of white fruit—notably pear and apple—marzipan and sweet spices, as well as a light touch of citrus mingled with classy autolytic notes. On the palate, this is a structured, tensile and ethereal Champagne with high acidity—a sign of a classic vintage—animated by a mousse of striking finesse and delicacy. Although already enjoyable, it should develop well for several decades.

Like a worn, comfy leather chair, this is comforting and supple in feel, with lightly mulled peach, green fig and cherry fruit flavors laced liberally with praline, toasted sesame, argan oil and green tea notes. A touch demure, with a soft focus at the core that contrasts beautifully with its racy edges. A stunner. Drink now. 155 cases made, 20 cases imported.

The 2023 Zinfandel Green & Red Vineyard is laced with macerated cherry, spice, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco, mint and dried flowers. There's a touch of new oak sweetness that works so well here in complementing some of the savory notes that are present from the 15% Petite Sirah.

The 2024 Syrah Que Syrah Vineyard takes its place among the very finest vintages ever made here. Inky, racy and deep, the 2024 impresses from start to finish. Inky dark fruit, coffee, lavender, mint and black pepper stain the palate. The 2024 doesn't quite have the mid-palate richness of the epic 2021, but it comes close. I find it incredibly elegant. The 2024 was done with 70% whole clusters, which add layers of savory dimension that really explode on the finish. Magical.

Blueberry, violets, spring flowers, and some violet notes all emerge from the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Cs, a plush, ripe, rounded Cabernet Sauvignon offering soft tannins, terrific purity, and a great finish. It's going to be one hell of a house red. There are just under 200,000 cases of this, so it should be easy to find.

95 Luis Gutierrez - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

One of the few 2024s in bottle was the 2024 Cíes, a village Albariño from different soils and expositions fermented in neutral barrels of different sizes, where it matured for eight months. The year is characterized by good ripeness; this has 13.3% alcohol and notable balancing acidity and freshness. It's clean, expressive and serious, with a salty twist and a faint bitter twist in the finish.

The Brovia 2021 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione takes us back to, again, one of my favorite sites in the appellation. I go crazy for wines from this MGA. This expression is extremely nuanced and delicate, especially at first. The wine builds intensity later. Finely stitched aromas of fruit, minerals and blue flower make for a classical Nebbiolo. It shows good power and structure at the back. You should age it longer than most. Fermentation starts off in cement, and the wine is racked into French and Slavonian oak casks (40 hectoliters) for aging. The Rocche di Castiglione vineyard is distinguished by its high presence of sand. This 1.6-hectare plot sits at 300 to 350 meters in elevation with southeastern exposures. The vineyard is extremely steep and, with the loose soils, is challenging to farm. Diano sandstone and Sant'Agata Fossili Marl put these soils on the "younger" side of the Barolo geological spectrum. This wine will be released in September 2025, with 5,000 bottles.

Fragrant and all about finesse, the radiant Brovia 2021 Rocche di Castiglione mesmerizes with its aromas of rose, perfumed berry, menthol and dark culinary spice. Full-bodied and showing elegant restraint, the savory, vibrant palate has a pristine quality, delivering crunchy red red, orange zest, star anise and black tea set against taut, refined tannins. It’s impeccably balanced, with bright acidity. What a beauty. Drink 2031–2046. Abv: 14.5%

A saturated red hue, the 2021 Barolo Rocche Di Castiglione is complex and compelling on the nose and draws inward with notes of mocha, mint, cherry liqueur, fresh leather, and baked earth. The palate exhibits a focused energy and purity, complemented by refined tannins, refreshing acidity, and a ripe, medium-bodied frame. It’s a lovely wine that will only improve over the next 15 or more years. It feels the most complete of the wines presented by Brovia and takes the slight edge above the rest.

"An impressive value for an Oakville AVA Cabernet, Groth's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon is a bit reticent and slow out of the chute, but aeration brings out nice aromas of black cherries and subtle cedar notes. A blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot, it's medium- to full-bodied but streamlined and silky, showing impressive length and elegance for the vintage. The new-oak component comes in at 45%, imparting just enough structure to ensure a decade's worth of drinkability. With more than 20,000 cases produced, it should be relatively easy to track down a few bottles."

The 2023 Red Clos Ancestral from Penedès blends 45% Moneu, 35% Tempranillo and 20% Garnatxa. Aromas include cherry, sour cherry, blackberry, garrigue and blood orange. The palate is lightly tannic with moderate freshness and a juicy, fruit-driven finish.

Compelling from start to finish, this is a show-stopping wine. Aromatically, the perfume hooks you with its white flowers, crushed stones, white peaches, grapefruit pith, and green apples. The palate is equal to the nose with its display of ripe, perfectly ripe, and almost ripe citrus, pears, apples, and white peaches with a spicy edge. The racy acidity keeps the wine going long after you think the finish is over. Drink from 2027-2055.

Bright yellow colour with green hue. Multi-layered nose with aroma reminiscent of peaches, tangerine zest, hints of granadilla, elegant aromatic herbs, elegant toasting, cold smoke, graphite. On the palate excellent depth and mouthfeel, rather rich with wonderful acidity and excellent length, fine citrus fruit, peaches and hints of tropical fruit. Creamy texture. A truly great White.

White wine of the vintage, huge depth, makes you want to stop and tell your friends. Citrus, slate, nuanced green apple, white pear, citrus, sage and gunsmoke, all beautifully drawn out through the palate, gorgeous depths from first to last moment, an impressive white that rises vertically. This is racy and aromatic, with blossom honey, lemons, limes and crushed stone. Some Thai basil, too. It’s medium- to full-bodied with fresh acidity and plenty of energy. Solid and polished in the Haut-Brion way. Better to leave this for three or four years.

Medium-deep, faded ruby in color, the 2018 Mauro Veglio Barolo Arborina has a soft and gently fragrant nose, a little 'sotto voce' or understated, but with pretty tea leaf and floral notes. It has quite firmly structured but nicely managed tannins at the same time. There is a really attractive savory, lingering finish to this wine with sweeping acidity. It is a more classic, traditional style, harmonious and very appealing. Maybe wait one to two years and keep up to 20 years.
