Deep amber color. Richly flavored aroma, with notes of toffee, raisins, dates, honeyed malt, and demerara rum. Medium in body and richly textured. Toffee & rum-like flavors entertain the palate first, followed by chocolate covered raisins and dates. The whiskey then begins to dry out mid-palate, as the 21 years in oak becomes evident, contributing notes of vanilla and subtle mint. Dry finish with lingering notes of oak and polished leather. Style: Irish single malt whiskey. Price: about $120. Available in select markets. This is a delicious whiskey that should appeal to both the Irish and Scotch whisk(e)y drinker. Aged initially in sherry and bourbon casks, the whiskey was then finished in Madeira casks. It is complex in flavor and very well balanced. It is one of the best Irish whiskeys on the market. This whiskey has been a long time comin', but it was worth the wait.

Inviting aromas of gouda cheese, olives, toasted citrus pastry, herbs and spices with a supple, fruity-yet-dry medium body and a long, pineapple upside down cake, sassafras, cedar and peppery spice driven finish. This checks the quintessential boxes of a well-made bourbon. The nose is rich with caramel candies, vanilla, graham cracker, and rich spicy oak. The palate is sweet and nutty, with candied walnuts, pecan pie, oak, and tobacco. Each sip is well balanced, with the sweet, savory, and earthy flavors coming together harmoniously and without any jostling. The finish is sweet and toasty, turning fruitier than the palate, with a healthy balance of oak spice.—SE

Aromas and flavors of clove, nutmeg, and mace in mocha ice cream, sweet pipe tobacco, stewed red fruits, and dutch apple pancake with coffee in the batter with a thick, bright, dry fat body and a warming, very complex, long finish with accents of cherry wood smoked brisket, padron maduro 1945 anniversario, bananas foster with loads of nutmeg and clove, and burned vanilla bean. A Whisky rich in rounded mocha notes and hints of savory meats laden with loads of ripe fruit that would pair excellently with a cigar.
