Aromas and flavors of yeasty cookie dough, toasted meringue, spiced yams, and fleur de sel and olive brine with a satiny, vibrant, fruity medium body and a warming, engaging, long finish with accents of vanilla mint cream, spicy cheese cake, roasted peppers and peppercorns, and herbed chevre. A robust and spicy blanco with inviting layers of flavor and a long warming finish.

Created by master distiller Brent Elliott to mark the distillery’s grand reopening, this Bourbon is the first permanent addition to the portfolio since 2006. This is a concentrated sip—even with plenty of water—showing warm, toasty vanilla, sugar cookies and buttery brioche, finishing extra-long and drying, accented by plenty of baking spice. Grassy, green, hoppy, herbal, candied aromas and flavors of dark cocoa mole sauce, lime, citrus, vanilla, roasted pineapple, and cotton candy with a round, crisp, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a warming, nuanced, medium-length finish that exhibits overtones of sweetened italian peppers on an italian beef sandwich, grassy tones, and cucumber skins. A sweet, savory, and peppery stunner of a Reposado Tequila that hits all the right notes.

Number 2 Whiskey of 2024.... The flagship of Bruichladdich’s Luxury Redefined range is packaged in a molded fiber cocoon. Distilled in 2004, this whisky includes the distillery’s first use of Islay-grown barley. It was matured on Islay, mostly in bourbon barrels but also in a combination of sauternes and port casks. Aromas of honey, vanilla, and creamed coconut are wrapped around floral flourishes, with peach, melon, guava, and ground ginger. Complex layers of gooseberry, melon, and banana mingle with butterscotch, barley sugar, honeycomb, vanilla, and cinnamon, running into a satisfying finish of ginger and oak spice with a hint of coastal saltiness. —Jonny McCormick
