2023 D'angerville Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir from France
#149510 750 mL
2023 D'angerville Volnay 1er Cru
90-93 Jasper Morris, MW - Inside Burgundy
Made up of Mitans and Pitures, though with part of Mitans pulled out. Fresh middling purple. The nose is quite discreet, and certainly better balanced, with a spicy peppery note to the fruit at the back of the palate, with good acidity. A refined and stylish Volnay 1er Cru that shows the benefit of years of biodynamic farming in its finesse. Drink from 2030-2037. Tasted Nov 2024.

2019 Hermanos De Pecina Senorio Crianza Rioja Tempranillo / Tinto Fino / Tinta Roriz from Spain
#149284 750 mL
2019 Hermanos De Pecina Senorio Crianza Rioja
92 Luis Gutierrez - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The textbook traditional red 2019 SeñorĂo de P. Peciña Crianza was produced with their classical blend of Tempranillo with small percentages of Garnacha and Graciano. It fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and matured in used American oak barrels following the most orthodox tradition, for two years, a lot longer than required to obtain the category. It has spicy notes, a hint of cigar box and forest floor and is a powerful and ripe year, when the wine achieved 14.36% alcohol and good freshness and acidity. It has a medium to full-bodied palate with a chalky mouthfeel, fine tannins and a slightly dusty and rustic touch that would welcome food. It was bottled in May 2022.

2024 Ridge Lytton Springs Proprietary Red Blend from United States
#153505 750 mL
2024 Ridge Lytton Springs Proprietary Red
97 Billy Norris - Vinous Media
The 2024 Lytton Springs is so vibrant and resonant. The purest, most crystalline black cherry fruit explodes from the glass, highlighted by a technicolor array of citrus peel, gamey elements and wild, heady violet florals. With aeration, the 2024 deepens dramatically, embracing a well of truffly earth tones and serious minerality that lend dynamism and intrigue. Chalky tannins have already integrated quite a bit in bottle, but the 2024 is a wine that will clearly cruise for two decades, likely more. The Lytton and Geyserville were neck and neck from barrel, but the Lytton has taken the lead (albeit by a smidge) from bottle, egged on by an incredibly long finish. Magnificent.

#153481 750 mL
2024 Paul Prieur Sancerre Les Monts Damnes
89-91 Vinous Media - Vinous
The 2024 Monts Damnés provides a rich attack on entry, with ripe lime citrus and elderflower aromas. The texture is remarkable, with firm, electric acidity piercing its core, bringing chiseled line and real chalkiness. The quality of the site defies the vintage. This will rest on lees for another two months before spending six months in steel ahead of bottling.

#147224 750 mL
2019 Churchill Quinta Da Gricha Vintage Port
93 Wine Enthusiast
The Churchill flagship quinta has produced a serious style of Port. Dry and richly structured, it also has jammy red-berry fruits that will cushion the firmness. Drink the wine from 2029.
92 Wine Spectator
Very polished, with a red fruit profile of cassis, kirsch and cherry compote notes, all wrapped in fruitcake, red licorice and sweet spice. Keeps its polish through the finish. Best from 2037 through 2055. 282 cases made.

#147475 750 mL
2020 Fowles Wines Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch Shiraz
92 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
Distinctive cool-climate aromas of charcuterie, dried kelp, peppercorn and clove. The aromas are thoroughly convincing, strongly reminiscent of, say, a good Crozes-Hermitage. Plenty of floral lift and buoyancy. The tannins are a tad drying, yet there is a sinuous elegance to this finer-boned shiraz that deserves attention. Drink now. Screw cap.

2023 Southern Right Pinotage Pinotage from South Africa
#149330 750 mL
2023 Southern Right Pinotage
90 Neal Martin - Vinous Media
A blend of Swartland, Hemel and Stellenbosch fruit, the 2023 Pinotage has a delightful bouquet with mulberry and light blueberry scents, fine definition and purity. Maybe you would not guess it was Pinotage if tasted blind. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity and a caressing texture, with a touch of black olive tapenade on the grainy textured finish. Very fine.

#151013 750 mL
2022 Frogs Leap Napa Cabernet Sauvignon
94 Antonio Galloni - Vinous
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon is terrific. Rich and forward, the 2022 is a bit extroverted for Frog's Leap, but all the elements are so well balanced. The Cabernet is typically in a blend from three ranches—Rossi, Chavez-Leeds and Red Barn—but in 2022, most of the wine is from Rossi and Chavez-Leeds, as Red Barn was mostly declassified because the fruit was compromised by the year. Ripe red cherry fruit, blood orange and spice notes convey an impression of exoticism that is super distinctive.
