"Ripe and tasty but not overtly sweet, with a mouthfeel that shows slate-like minerality, apricots, spring blossoms, honey and lemon oil. Bruised yellow apples at the end. Drink now."

2021 Domane Serrig Vogelsang Grosse Lage,(Markus Molitor) Riesling from Germany
#145583 750 mL
2021 Domane Serrig Vogelsang Grosse Lage,(Markus Molitor)
99 Colin Hay - The Drinks Business
(100% Riesling; from a grand cru vineyard in the Saar; from a legendary estate built by Kaiser Wilhelm II in 1904 on the incredibly steep slate slopes of the Saar river valley; 10 g/l of residual sugar, acidity of 8 g/l; 12% alcohol). Another simply staggering wine from Markus Molitor. There’s so much precision, so much complexity, so much detail and such singularity. Spectacular and extremely memorable. An intense flinty, stony minerality that has one imaging a barren rocky steeply contoured scree slope. Vertiginous acidity, with glorious citron pressé and pamplemouse pressé notes, a little blood orange and orange blossom too. A wine with immense aging potential, but that is already mind-expanding, not least in the incredibly vertical range the fruit seems to travel in the mouth. Brilliantly chiselled, incredibly tense and yet gloriously silky in its texture. A monument to Riesling.
98 Stephan Reinhardt - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Markus Molitor's intensely yellow colored Domäne Serrig 2021 Vogelsang Grosse Lage opens with a deep, intense and rich yet refined bouquet of ripe Saar Riesling intermingled with sur-lie aromas and Molitor's script. This could be a Burgundy as well in terms of fruit intensity and the yeasty undercurrent. Round and elegant on the palate, this is an off-dry Riesling with a savory palate and the remarkable 2021 acidity that is well wrapped here by texture and a serving of sweetness that most consumers might receive as roundness, the more so since its assisted by a sense of large oak. The acidity is nevertheless very fine and even playful, and the wine indicates its depth and mineral tension. It is well balanced yet mouthfilling and salivating, but it's still far too young to be consumed for what it is. A pleasant and promising wine at this early stage, yet this is even more of a sleeping giant that deserves not just our money but even more so our patience. It is very long and intense and with endless fruit aromas and stimulating salts. Keep it for at least 5 or 6 years. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in September 2024.

2022 Dominique Lafon Volnay
90-92 Antonio Galloni - Vinous
The 2022 Volnay Village was almost completely de-stemmed and comes from the young vines in Santenots. It has a perfumed nose of black plum, raspberry fruit, and a touch of dried iris flower. This Volnay has crunchy tannins and pure black fruit with a slightly chalky textured finish. Lots of depth, considering this is a Village Cru, perhaps betraying its Santenot origins.
89-91 Jasper Morris, MW - Inside Burgundy
14 barrels made from 0.75ha, a comfortable return. Fifty percent whole bunch. Concentrated purple colour. A bucketload of dark raspberry fruit, but not too obviously stem infused. Excellent intensity, quite dark raspberry in style, good acidity, and fair length. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted: October 2023.

"Incredible nose of crushed berry, licorice, violets and lightly toasted oak. Pure creme de cassis. Full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins and a long, long finish. Solid. Best after 2011. 10,000 cases made."
97 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
This is more exotic and monstrous than the 2000. It is like a muscle builder, with lots of round and rich tannins and a core of dark fruits like black cherries and blueberries. Still very young, but structured and in need of five more years. Don’t touch this until 2015.
96 Robert Parker - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
An incredibly fresh, lively 2003 (the pH is only 3.6 and the alcohol is 13.1%), this wine offers a dense ruby/purple color along with full body and a remarkable nose of black currants, kirsch, lead pencil shavings and vanilla. Opulent, full-bodied and close to full maturity, it is a seamless classic that will age for 15-20 more years. Kudos to the Delon family for such a brilliant achievement in a tricky vintage.
96 Clive Pursehouse - Decanter Magazine
This vintage shows great precision at four years of age, though still very young and precocious. Deep mineral tones leap from the glass, the crushed slate, smoke and bright blue fruits accented by a savoury note of garrigue and lavender. Lovely elegance on the palate as black and red berry fruits are met with an earth-driven minerality. Umami notes of dried morel mushrooms, a touch of soy and chicory lead to wisps of pencil lead. While a joy to taste so young, this wine has a long life ahead.

Lifted aromas of flowers, cherry and black plum are supported by accents of mineral and lightly toasted oak. On the palate, an explosion of ripe, pulpy berry fruit and snappy acidity settles with ease and elegance, while this Cabernet Sauvignon from a warm, dry year offers blackberry, cassis and chocolate flavors. There's plenty of depth to a smooth and balanced finish. This is one to hold for many years. Best from 2025–2045. — Michael Schachner

"A superbly dense, concentrated wine so rich in flavor that it almost has a brooding, dark quality. The hint of medicinal character just gives all this intensity a lift, and goes with flavors of roasted nuts and licorice. The aftertaste has just the right acidity."

2021 Juanvi Viticultor Quercus Grenache / Garnacha from Spain
#141721 750 mL
2021 Juanvi Viticultor Quercus
93 Luis Gutierrez - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2021 Rubus Quercus (Juanvi Quercus in the US) is a blend of approximately 70% Garnacha and 30% Miguel del Arco from 40- to 50-year-old vines at 800 to 960 meters in altitude. 2021 was cooler, healthy but low yielding because of a snowstorm in January and frost in April. It fermented with some 10% full clusters and indigenous yeasts with a long maceration of four weeks and matured in second and third used 500-liter oak barrels for six months. It has a bright ruby color and a perfumed and floral nose and is elegant, very tasty, harmonious and nuanced. It's spicy and fresh, with integrated oak, and it's more soil- than fruit-driven. It's ripe with 14.4% alcohol and good freshness. 6,600 bottles were filled in two lots, in May and December 2022.

The 2022 Zind is a blend of two-thirds Chardonnay and one-third Auxerrois from the Triassic limestone soils in the Clos Windsbuhl. The nose shines with fresh, ripe, juicy yellow apple fringed with lovely zestiness. This is light-bodied, sunny, medium-bodied, fruity and fresh, with Chardonnay's added textural pleasure. (Bone-Dry)

98 Decanter
James Button - Solaia sings in 2023. It's supremely vertical with already-integrated sandy tannins, its tall frame adorned with crunchy, sapid forest berries, chocolate, menthol, iodine and floral top notes. Generous and finessed, it's drinking surprisingly well at this early stage and will continue to prosper for the next two decades at least.
97 Antonio Galloni - Vinous
The 2023 Solaia has gained a measure of weight since I first tasted it a few months ago. Inky dark fruit, crème de cassis, blackberry, graphite and dried herbs soar from the glass. Cabernet Sauvignon speaks with notable eloquence and character. There's gorgeous purity and restraint here.
A big Solaia with lots of fruit and spices as well as mint and spearmint. Aromatic. Full-bodied with lots of fruit and chewy tannins. Muscular and juicy for a modern Solaia. Needs three to four years of age to come together. Best after 2028.
