2024 Arnot Roberts Syrah Que Syrah from United States
#152611 750 mL
2024 Arnot Roberts Syrah Que
98 Antonio Galloni - Vinous
The 2024 Syrah Que Syrah Vineyard takes its place among the very finest vintages ever made here. Inky, racy and deep, the 2024 impresses from start to finish. Inky dark fruit, coffee, lavender, mint and black pepper stain the palate. The 2024 doesn't quite have the mid-palate richness of the epic 2021, but it comes close. I find it incredibly elegant. The 2024 was done with 70% whole clusters, which add layers of savory dimension that really explode on the finish. Magical.

Blueberry, violets, spring flowers, and some violet notes all emerge from the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Cs, a plush, ripe, rounded Cabernet Sauvignon offering soft tannins, terrific purity, and a great finish. It's going to be one hell of a house red. There are just under 200,000 cases of this, so it should be easy to find.

2022 Groth Cabernet Sauvignon
92 Joe Czerwinski - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"An impressive value for an Oakville AVA Cabernet, Groth's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon is a bit reticent and slow out of the chute, but aeration brings out nice aromas of black cherries and subtle cedar notes. A blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot, it's medium- to full-bodied but streamlined and silky, showing impressive length and elegance for the vintage. The new-oak component comes in at 45%, imparting just enough structure to ensure a decade's worth of drinkability. With more than 20,000 cases produced, it should be relatively easy to track down a few bottles."

2021 Brovia Barolo "Rocche De Castiglione" Nebbiolo from Italy
#148023 750 mL
2021 Brovia Barolo "Rocche De Castiglione"
98 Monica Larner - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The Brovia 2021 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione takes us back to, again, one of my favorite sites in the appellation. I go crazy for wines from this MGA. This expression is extremely nuanced and delicate, especially at first. The wine builds intensity later. Finely stitched aromas of fruit, minerals and blue flower make for a classical Nebbiolo. It shows good power and structure at the back. You should age it longer than most. Fermentation starts off in cement, and the wine is racked into French and Slavonian oak casks (40 hectoliters) for aging. The Rocche di Castiglione vineyard is distinguished by its high presence of sand. This 1.6-hectare plot sits at 300 to 350 meters in elevation with southeastern exposures. The vineyard is extremely steep and, with the loose soils, is challenging to farm. Diano sandstone and Sant'Agata Fossili Marl put these soils on the "younger" side of the Barolo geological spectrum. This wine will be released in September 2025, with 5,000 bottles.
98 Kerin O'Keefe - kerinokeefe.com
Fragrant and all about finesse, the radiant Brovia 2021 Rocche di Castiglione mesmerizes with its aromas of rose, perfumed berry, menthol and dark culinary spice. Full-bodied and showing elegant restraint, the savory, vibrant palate has a pristine quality, delivering crunchy red red, orange zest, star anise and black tea set against taut, refined tannins. It’s impeccably balanced, with bright acidity. What a beauty. Drink 2031–2046. Abv: 14.5%
96 Jeb Dunnuck - jebdunnuck.com
A saturated red hue, the 2021 Barolo Rocche Di Castiglione is complex and compelling on the nose and draws inward with notes of mocha, mint, cherry liqueur, fresh leather, and baked earth. The palate exhibits a focused energy and purity, complemented by refined tannins, refreshing acidity, and a ripe, medium-bodied frame. It’s a lovely wine that will only improve over the next 15 or more years. It feels the most complete of the wines presented by Brovia and takes the slight edge above the rest.

1967 Dalva 1967 Colheita Port Port Varieties from Portugal
#126765 750 mL
1967 Dalva 1967 Colheita Port
94 Mark Squires - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 1967 Colheita Tawny Port Dalva is a field blend coming in at 145 grams per liter of residual sugar. It is surprisingly young for its age, the wave of sugar hiding the complexity. Very sweet on the finish, this does have those old tawny nuances underneath. There's bark and molasses to go with the sugar and caramel. It seems rich, but not overly concentrated. The most impressive part is the finish. It lingers beautifully. In fact, it is hard to get it out of your mouth. You may be tasting it the next morning. While, on first taste, the 1985 actually seems more complex and this 1967 seems a bit too sugary, this eventually proves that it has the goods. The long finish alone demonstrates that nicely.

A. Bergere Champagne Brut Origine
90 Jeb Dunnuck - jebdunnuck.com
Made from 70% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir, and the rest Meunier, the NV Champagne Origine Brut pours a straw hue and is based on the 2019 vintage with 30% reserve wines and partially raised in 228-liter barrels. It’s generous in its aromatics, with spicy notes of graham cracker, toasted almond, baked pear, and orange. Fluffy and rounded in its mousse, it fills the palate with ample juiciness through the mid-palate and has an attractive, clean finish. It’s a charming wine that casts a large net to drink over the next few years.

2021 Suertes Del Marques 7 Fuentes Vino De Villa Listan Negro from Spain
#147780 750 mL
2021 Suertes Del Marques 7 Fuentes Vino De Villa
93+ Luis Gutierrez - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2021 7 Fuentes was quite similar to the 2020 that I tasted next to it, but this year they merged the 7 Fuentes and 7 Fuentes El Lance into a single cuvée of Listán Negro and 5% Castellana Negra, so it has grapes from more vineyards, 30 different ones. It fermented with 20% full clusters in concrete with indigenous yeasts and matured for 11 months, 50% in concrete and 50% in used 500-liter oak barrels; then it was blended and kept in stainless steel for a further eight months. It has 12.63% alcohol and good acidity and freshness. This is quite approachable and less reductive and at the same time fresher. They have been working to increase the pH of the soil to get less reduction in the wines; each year as the soils are healthier, there is less reduction in the wines. 50,400 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2023.

2020 Bussola Valpolicella Superiore Ca Del Laito Ripasso Blend from Italy
#150172 750 mL
2020 Bussola Valpolicella Superiore Ca Del Laito Ripasso
90 Eric Guido - Vinous Media
The 2020 Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore Ca' del Laito has an enticing bouquet that combines sweet sage and lavender with allspice, clove and dried black cherry. It is soothingly round and pliant, with juicy acidity and bright red berry fruit offset by a twang of sour citrus. Long yet incredibly fresh, the 2020 tapers off with rosy inner florals and a hint of nectarine, which I find wildly attractive.

2021 Felsina Chianti Classico Sangiovese from Italy
#140862 375 mL
2021 Felsina Chianti Classico
92 Antonio Galloni - Vinous
The 2021 Chianti Classico Berardenga is boisterous and expressive right out of the glass. Dark fruit, earthiness, leather, spice and tobacco convey tons of Castelnuovo Berardenga character. The 2021 keeps getting better in the glass. It's a super-classic example of the house style and a wine readers should consider buying by the case. The Berardenga bottling can be a bit wild, but in 2021 has an added touch of sophistication that is undeniable.

2023 Domaine Servin Chablis 1er Cru Montee De Tonnerre
94 Tim Atkin, MW
This is super-classic Chablis with a lightly milky, cheesy nose and a firm, chalky texture. Fine spice, paper ream, wet seashells and pear swirl across the chiselled palate and into the refined finish. These are 39 year-old vines and the fruit sees exclusively stainless steel.

2019 Chateau Pontet Canet
100 Peter Moser - Falstaff
Deep dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on rim. For the first time since 2011, the proportion of Merlot is somewhat higher, the bouquet accordingly more characterised by heart cherries than by the usual cassis de Pauillac, delicate nougat and caramel, fine herbal spice. Powerful, tightly meshed, shows good expression, chocolatey touch, ripe tannins, great complexity, great length and spiciness, a very independent personality, a huge promise for the future, already evident: this wine has everything a world-class wine needs.
99 Lisa Perrotti-Brown - The Wine Independent
Composed of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Pontet-Canet is deep garnet-purple in color. It features notes of prunes, creme de cassis, and wilted roses, followed by suggestions of spice box, iron ore, Ceylon tea, and underbrush. The medium to full-bodied palate is rich, concentrated, and seductive, with a racy backbone and ripe, fine-grained tannins supporting the complex, layered flavors, finishing long and minerally.
99 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
The aromas to this are really amazing, with a potpourri of spices and dried flowers, as well as redcurrants, sweet plums and even some peaches. Full-bodied with layers of ripe fruit and ultra-fine tannins that spread across the palate in an encompassing yet always elegant and pure way. It’s succulent and unadulterated. Like crushed, perfectly ripened grapes. The length is rather endless. The tannins build. Fabulous young red. 35% in amphora and the rest in 50% new oak and 15% one-year oak. 65% cabernet sauvignon and 30% merlot, the rest cabernet franc and petit verdot. From biodynamically grown grapes. Try after 2028, but an absolute joy to taste now.
98 Georgina Hindle - Decanter
Such gorgeous aromatics of freshly picked violets, cherries and bramble fruits - pretty and quite delicate. The texture is smooth and succulent, mouth coating but full of soft tannins which have the most delicious black cherry, blackcurrant flesh and liquorice tinge to them - so satisfying. Extremely well balanced and well integrated, this has restrained power, it's not rich or particularly round but straight, direct and layered rather than wide. Really long finish with great freshness and touches of cool blueberries. This is just such a great wine, everything you want and you know there's power there promising a long life. Great winemaking on show. 35% aged in concrete, 50% new oak, 15% in barrels of one year, for 16-18 months. This year there's a new label, the drawing of the house has remained but the font is more elegant and modern. A blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot.
98 Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
Particularly successful during En Primeur, and even better now, just bursting out of the glass. Plump and fruit forward, plenty of character, with spiced cedar and smoked earth, violet and iris notes play around the edges, but the focus is on creamy cassis, bilberry, cocoa bean and aniseed. Last vintage with Jean-Michel Comme as technical director, and you really now see the skilled use of amphoras, which added notes of austerity in the early years (they introduced them in 2012) but now showcase the precision of the fruit. 100% 1st wine, with the ageing taking place in a mix of 45% new oak barrels, 15% one year barrels and 40% amphoras.
98 Roger Voss - Wine Enthusiast
The wine is so perfumed, with ripe tannins set beside the black currant purity. The wine does have weight but the fruit is so refined and vibrant. Tannins give a core for aging, offering the structure and the density of a very fine wine. Organic and biodynamic.
97 Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
It is the purity of the fruit, along with the soft, silky, polished layers of freshness that matter here. The wine kicks off with an array of flowers, plums, currants and blackberries along with spice, savory herbs, tobacco leaf and a touch of cherry. The wine exudes its red fruit quality with ease, leaving you with an elegant, refined, soft, polished, mid-palate and a long, vibrant, fresh finish that provides you with a gorgeous display of purity in the fruits. Please allow the wine some time for aging before pulling a cork. Drink from 2030-2060.

2013 Taittinger Blanc De Blancs Comtes De Champagne Chardonnay from France
#145111 750 mL
2013 Taittinger Blanc De Blancs Comtes De Champagne
98 Wine Enthusiast
This beautiful Chardonnay from five top Grand Cru vineyards is textured with fruit that is still impressively perfumed. Its concentration has allowed it to remain perennially young. Although there are hints of toastiness, the Champagne has many more years of potential. Drink now and at least up to 2027.
The 2013 Comtes de Champagne is a towering Champagne, as it was last year. Rich, sumptuous and explosive, the 2013 soars out of the glass with a captivating mix of tropical fruit, apricot, passion fruit, baked apple tart, mint and yellow flowers. It is one of the most explosive, extroverted Comtes I have ever tasted. Impressive.
96 Wine Spectator
The Marilyn Monroe of Champagne, with voluptuous notes of lemon meringue, poached apricot, black cherry, brioche and candied ginger trimmed nicely by sleek, mouthwatering acidity. A minerally underpinning of smoke and oyster shell pushes through to drive the finish. It's hard to stop sipping this bright and harmonious bubbly. Drink now through 2038. 1,500 cases imported.
96 Yohan Castaing - Robert Parker's the Wine Advocate
The 2013 Brut Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne's bouquet is compellingly fresh and minty, revealing aromas of white fruit—notably pear and apple—marzipan and sweet spices, as well as a light touch of citrus mingled with classy autolytic notes. On the palate, this is a structured, tensile and ethereal Champagne with high acidity—a sign of a classic vintage—animated by a mousse of striking finesse and delicacy. Although already enjoyable, it should develop well for several decades.
