Susana Balbo and her team chose Gualtallary for the Nosotros bottling in this warm vintage. There is huge breadth of complexity to the nose with graphite and tarry black and blue fruit. Dark minerals and a hint of cocoa powder and cigar box. Full-bodied and juicy on the palate with lots of broad-shouldered, fine-grained tannins. Intense, concentrated and incredibly persistent. This is cool-toned in feel, with soft textures and ripe orchard fruits that swirl across a core of brisk acidity. Its minerality comes through on the flinty, stony finish, tapering off with a subtle hint of chamomile.

The 2020 Syrah Reva is a great example of the vintage from this estate. Exotic red and blue fruits, pepper, violets, and floral notes all define the aromatics, and it has a full-bodied, deep, rich, opulent style on the palate, with a good sense of freshness, a round, layered mouthfeel, and a great finish. I love its balance as well as its mouthfeel, and this beauty already offers pleasure yet will benefit from just a few years of bottle age and cruise through 2040.
