The 2018 Reserva comes from a late growing season and was produced with local varieties like Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano and others from their 86 hectares of vineyards at 590 to 805 meters in altitude on limestone, sandstone and marl soils, now certified organic. The grapes were picked late with good ripeness and health and fermented with natural yeasts in stainless steel and open-top oak vats, then the wine matured in oak containers of different sizes for 22 to 24 months. This is a very good classical wine, serious and balanced, with very fine tannins, a balanced mouthfeel and enough power and concentration to be able to show elegance and nuance. It's very tasty, almost salty. 301,779 bottle produced. It was bottled in May 2021.

The exquisite 2024 Chardonnay Les Granitiers follows up from the fantastic 2023 with a higher percentage of Coastview (44%) grapes and 43% from Fogstone instead of Escolle, as well as small amounts of Pelio and Spear, all sites rich in granitic soils. Though the vintage was warmer, there’s no lack of freshness or verve, the wine as linear, high-toned, and light-bodied as ever. Native-fermented and aged in mostly neutral barrel and some stainless for under a year, there’s texture and complexity that buoys the salinity and earthy undertones of fresh herb and sea spray. Another masterful wine from this small producer. Drink now through 2036.

The 2022 Côtes Du Rhône Les Claux Blanc is based on 30% Grenache Blanc, 30% Clairette, 30% Roussanne, and 10% Bourboulenc, and this cuvée is always a rock-solid white. Golden apples, honeyed flowers, blanched almonds, and some subtle, richer, creamy nuances all define this beautifully textured, medium-bodied, balanced white that’s superb on its own yet will absolutely shine on the dinner table. It should have 2-4 years of prime drinking if well stored.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2025 Malescot St. Exupéry prances out with gregarious notes of juicy blueberries and black raspberries, leading to hints of violets, mossy tree bark, and camphor. The medium-bodied palate is intense with shimmery blue and red berry flavors, supported by ripe, fine-grained tannins and great tension, finishing long and perfumed. Stunning!

It offers a sensational bouquet of crème de cassis, black raspberries, tobacco leaf, and minerals, as well as an unmistakable Pauillac lead pencil characteristics that I just adore. Possessing full-bodied richness, a rounded, surprisingly opulent, sexy texture, awesome purity, and sweet, succulent tannin, it’s a sensational 2014 that might just surpass what they accomplished in 2015. This is a 2014 you won’t regret buying in bulk as it’s going to keep for 2-3 decades and be drinkable for the vast majority of it. Bravo to Alfred Tesseron and his team!

The 2014 Pontet-Canet is composed of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet colored, it needs coaxing to reveal a profound core of baked plums, creme de cassis, and cigar box with wafts of tapenade, wood smoke, and mossy bark, plus a spicy hint of cumin seed. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has an impressive foundation of ripe, grainy tannins and lively acidity supporting the muscular black fruits, finishing on a lingering peppery note.

"The 2014 Pontet-Canet seems to have put on quite a bit of weight and volume since I first tasted it from barrel. Ripe, juicy tannins wrap around a core of intense dark cherry, plum, spice, lavender and tobacco. Today, it is the wine's sheer intensity and vertical structure that stands out. I wouldn't dream of touching a bottle until at least age ten, and even that is almost certainly not going to be enough time for the 2014 to show the full breadth of its potential. The transformation the 2014 has undergone from a delicate, nuanced Pauillac to a wine of depth is quite remarkable. Tasted three times. The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, vinified in equal parts cement and oak and aged in a combination of 50% new oak, 35% amphora and 15% once used barrels. Dark ruby, purple reflections, delicate edge brightening. Spicy, a hint of autumn leaves, blackberry, dried rose hip, black cherry, cassis and suede with air, with subtle nougat in the background. Overall a somewhat shy bouquet that calls for decanting. Powerful, tightly meshed, mineral, fine nougat at the core, ripe, supporting tannins that are still somewhat demanding, mineral-salty finish, seems somewhat closed at the moment, but will show its full certain ageing potential after a certain resting phase. Patience is required here. (2025- 2060).

All Clone 337, Sojourn's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III is a moderately concentrated, balanced effort. Scents of red and black cherries appear on the nose, joined by hints of cinnamon, cedar and dusty earth. In the mouth, it's medium to full-bodied, showing a certain amount of restraint and structure without being hard or tough, then finishing with some softly dusty tannins. 400 cases produced.
