There’s a menthol cast to the cherry and raspberry fruit in this red, all backed by a line of stiff, compact tannins. Nonetheless, the finish on this is extremely long, with the fruit and savory essence persisting alongside a mineral hint. Best from 2029 through 2046. 1,250 cases made, 333 cases imported.

A luscious and generous effort with depth and fine acidity. Anything but austere yet balanced and elegant; fresh, stylish, and long.
90 William Kelley - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Pillowy and charming, the latest rendition of Delamotte's NV Brut offers up attractive aromas of orchard fruit, fresh bread and citrus oil. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and elegant, with a pretty pinpoint mousse and lively balancing acids, it's drinking well out of the gates but will also develop gracefully for a few years in the cellar.

2015 Chateau Troplong Mondot Blend from France
#103444 750 mL
2015 Chateau Troplong Mondot
99 Jeb Dunnuck - jebdunnuck.com
"A wine I was able to taste on multiple occasions, the 2015 Troplong Mondot is a tour de force that readers need to snatch up. This cuvee comes from the cool, clay and limestone soils on the upper plateau (it’s the highest point in the appellation) and is a blend of 92% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc, harvest between September 30th and October 21st, that was brought up in 85% new French oak. Sporting a deep, inky color as well as a sensational bouquet of creme de cassis, blackberry, toasted spice, licorice and spring flowers, it’s another huge wine from this estate that has perfect balance between its fruit, oak and tannin, a stacked mid-palate, and an incredible finish. I wrote "crazy good" more than once in my notes. It has enough fruit and texture to drink nicely even today, yet needs 4-5 years of cellaring and will keep for two to three decades. It's one of the great wines of the vintage."
98 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
Expressive, ripe dark plums swathed in aromas of mocha, toasted baking spices, graphite, blackberries and mulberries. The flavor-soaked palate arrives on suave, velvety tannins, delivering flavors of vibrant, concentrated dark plums, mulberries, dark chocolate and cocoa in a youthful, fresh style. Terrific wine with ultra-long finish. An essay in power and elegance. Essence-like. Best from 2020.
97 Antonio Galloni - Vinous
One of the stars of the vintage, the 2015 Troplong Mondot has come together beautifully over the last year and half. Rich and sumptuous to the core, it is a classic wine from this property, built on serious fruit density and textural richness. Dark red cherry, plum, chocolate, new leather and spice are some of the many notes that build as the 2015 shows off its irrepressible personality. A viscerally exciting, resonant wine, it just needs a few years to shed some of its baby fat. Tasted two times.
93-96 Wine Spectator
" This has some exotic ripeness, with açaà berry and loganberry fruit pumping through, carried by substantial brambly tannins and backed by a long, spice- and black tea—infused finish. Shows power and range. Score range: 93-96 "
96 Wine Enthusiast
"95–97. Barrel Sample. Rich and smooth, this is a powerful and concentrated wine. The wine is perfumed and fragrant, with fine dusty tannins and a fresh edge that provides a nice lift to the finish."
92-94 Neal Martin - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2015 Troplong Mondot is inky black in color. The nose was initially arresting with a carapace of toasty new oak, but it only takes several swirls of the glass for that to dissipate and leave scents of intense black fruit, crème de cassis, spice box and violets. It is verging on "heady" in style, powered along by that Merlot. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannin, layers of ripe, sensual, lavish black fruit interlaced with black pepper and clove. The acidity binds everything together, maintains control through to the finish that fans out nicely. It leans towards the hedonistic style of Saint Emilion, but it is not pushed over the edge as I have found in previous recent vintages. What it needs to develop is just the charm and personality of the finest Saint Emilion wines this vintage."

"The 2021 SelecciĂłn Especial, the classic house blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo from Rioja Alta, reflects the finesse of the vintage. Aromas of plum, blackberry and a touch of raspberry are lifted by delicate balsamic hints. On the palate, it is dry and moderately compact, with chalky grip and long, savory flavor. Delicacy, energy and juiciness are kept in balanced interplay by the vintage."

"The 2018 Etna Rosso Contrada CrasĂ pulls me close with depths of ashen stone, crushed black cherries and dried roses. This is silky and pliant in feel, with mineral-tinged red berries and zesty acidity that build a reverberation of tension with each sip. It leaves a coating of grippy tannins through the finale, while maintaining admirable freshness. As pretty as the CrasĂ Contrada is today, the best is surely yet to come."

The 2023 Chardonnay Gap’s Crown Vineyard is another impressive wine in this range from Three Sticks. 92 Antonio Galloni - Vinous
"The 2024 Blanc Sec Lions de Suduiraut is fabulous. Intensely aromatic and deep, the 2024 is so impressive right out of the gate. Orchard fruit, white flowers, sage, mint and tomato leaf race across the palate, framed by brisk acids that pull it all together."
92 Decanter
"Quite varietal on the nose, elderflower, green apple, white floral notes and some crisp peach elements. White peach and pear, super cool and clear, a light touch of acidity with a hint of citrus but this is more on stone fruit and mineral freshness. Not so plump really but balanced nonetheless and super easy to drink. Ends clean. Bottled in February 2025. Represents 75% of the production of dry wines. "
"Smoked herbs and gooseberries with stones and sliced apples. Really fresh and medium-bodied, with good a texture and finish. Very good balance. Drink now."

2020 Clos Henri Sauvignon Blanc Stones Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand

2020 Clos Henri Sauvignon Blanc Stones
This new special cuvée, launched for this biodynamic winery's 20th anniversary, is a finessed and beautiful bottling from vines on the estate's Greywacke river stones. Wild fermented, with time on lees in old Austrian oak and minimal sulfur, it's bright, upright and linear. Aromas of pineapple, peach, lime granita and white florals are underscored with fresh wild herbal tones like fennel and cilantro. The palate is slinky, with more tempered acidity than your typical Marlborough Sauvignon. The focus here is on texture, complexity and food-friendliness. A beautiful expression of place from one of Marlborough's leading producers. — Christina Pickard

2022 De La Riva Macharnudo San Cayetano Vino De Pasto Jerez De La Frontera Palomino from Spain
#137286 750 mL
2022 De La Riva Macharnudo San Cayetano Vino De Pasto Jerez De La Frontera
98 Decanter
"A new-wave Sherry by winemakers Ramiro Ibáñez and Willy Perez makes its debut on the Place de Bordeaux this September. 100% Palomino Fino grapes come from the 3.35-hectare San Cayetano vineyard in Macharnudo, planted in 1988. Beautifully fragranced nose, really perfumed and floral, scented with wildflowers. The wine sees one year of flor ageing but it's distinctly dry and round on the palate. There's a thickness to the texture, like thick honey but with salted, softly spiced edges and a core of bright lemon, peach and pear that gives tang, energy and excitement to the expression. Poised and refined, this has a lovely ease about it, beautifully textured and fully flavoured with mouthwatering acidity and bursts of bright citrus zest that counter the saltiness - close your eyes and you could be by the beach! Interesting and captivating, long and lingering, crying out to be eaten with nuts. lovely sea salt spray, close your eyes and you're at the beach! limestone. Small production of only 6,000 bottles. - GH"
96 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
"An exciting table wine from the region of Sherry with crunchy fruit and fine phenolics, honeysuckle, crushed stone, and flowers. Medium body. A chalky and salty undercurrent throughout. Highlights some of the exciting new things in Spain. Made from the palomino grape from a single parcel in the vineyard of Macharnudo in the white soils of the region. Drink or hold."
96 Luis Gutierrez - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2022 Macharnudo San Cayetano Vino de Pasto is an unfortified Palomino from Sherry soils, from the famous Macharnudo vineyard in Jerez. The grapes were sun dried for a few hours, and the wine has less biological influence and more limestone influence despite having aged under a veil of flor yeasts; it comes from a plot of more concentration than the regular Macharnudo. 2022 was already an intense vintage; they wanted to avoid the wine being too heavy, and the wine shows superb. The La Escribana also comes from the Macharnudo vineyard, but this wine comes from a different plot in Macharnudo, an adjacent plot of very old vines (older than the others), looking for finesse and definition in the palate. It is more of a white wine than a flor wine. It was a dry year, and despite everything, the wine finished with a moderate 13.5% alcohol. The regular Macharnudo they had produced since 2016 will now include the name of the plot, El Notario, to distinguish it from these new bottlings. This 2022 has a powdery, chalky mouthfeel, very much the expression of the albariza calcareous soils. It doesn't have high acidity but has very good freshness and balance and a tasty minerality that makes you salivate; it's super tasty. This should bloom with a couple of years in bottle. There are some 6,000 bottles. It was bottled in July 2023. This is not in the Jerez/Sherry appellation, but there's an initiative to create a separate appellation of origin for these unfortified white wines."
