93 Roger Voss - Wine Enthusiast
Packed with black fruits and balanced acidity, this is the second wine of Quinta do Vale Meão. Aged for 14 months in wood, its fruit is rich while also having freshness. The wine's name comes from the massive horseshoe bend in the Douro that forms the boundary of the estate. Drink from 2026. — Roger Voss

2023 Bedrock Zinfandel Old Vine
93 Jeb Dunnuck - jebdunnuck.com
The 2023 Zinfandel Old Vine was raised in 600-gallon foudre with a small proportion (8%) in new oak, and it’s roughly 90% Zinfandel along with an eclectic field mix. The nose opens to bright peppery spice, fresh cut flowers, and black raspberries, with deeper notes of fresh sanguine earth coming through. The palate is full-bodied yet restrained, with a detailed structure and length with a mountainous feel. It’s a great lens into the range they produce here at Bedrock and a tremendous value. Drink 2025-2032.
92 Wine Spectator
Sleek and juicy, with fan-friendly cherry, raspberry, toasty spice and briar accents that glide on the zesty finish. Drink now through 2033. 8,000 cases made.
91 Erin Brooks - Robert Parker's the Wine Advocate
The 2023 Zinfandel Old Vine comes from vines averaging 80 years old, and Bedrock farms the fruit for about 75% of this blend. It has expressive aromas of wild berries, licorice, earth and spice. The medium-bodied palate is rounded and smooth with a balance of concentrated, mineral-driven fruit and vibrant acidity, and it has a long, nuanced finish.

Dried flowers, dried herbs and conserved cherries on the nose, with a touch of red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied, framed by polished tannins, with delicate fruit and a velvety, prodigious texture that is highly attractive. Derived from long aging on the skins in amphora (talha, as they are known in Alentejo). Drink now.

2005 D'arenberg Laughing Magpie Shiraz/Viognier
93 Robert Parker - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"Year in and year out, one of the most exotic, flamboyant, and sexiest cuvees in the d'Arenberg portfolio is The Laughing Magpie Shiraz/Viognier. The 2005 exhibits a spring flower garden-like character interwoven with blackberries, creme de cassis, melted licorice, and sweet, toasty new oak. Opulent and voluptuous, with silky tannin, and a plump, fleshy, rich, full-bodied personality, this offering is meant to be consumed over the next 5-8 years."

#148552 750 mL
2016 Castell'in Villa Santacroce Toscana
97 Antonio Galloni - Vinous
The 2016 Santa Croce is the estate's blend of equal parts Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon that spent close to eight years in cask during a time when proprietor Coralia Pignatelli della Leonessa was ill and some lots sat undisturbed in cellar for extended periods. Dark red fruit, rose petal, spice and menthol build in the glass. Most suprisingly, the 2016 is shockingly fresh for a wine of its age. This is a great, great wine. It's not Sangiovese, it's not Cabernet Sauvignon, it's not a blend. It’s simply Castell'in Villa at its most profound. (AG)
