Very clean aromas and flavors of white peach, pear and ripe apple with a hint of white earth. It’s medium-bodied with a creamy texture and a fresh, polished finish. A clear and structured white with lovely texture and salinity. Aged in used 600-liter barrels. Made from vijariego blanco.

The 2022 Atlántida Blanco is pure Vijeriego Blanco, the same as Vijariego Blanco in the Canary Islands (sometimes also known as Vijiriego!), first produced in 2016. It has some aromatic similarities with the Vara y Pulgar Blanco, with an interesting variety, with more acidity than Palomino, more expressive aromatically and with aging potential. This fermented with indigenous yeasts and without temperature control in 228- and 600-liter oak barrels, where it matured for 18 months. It's a powerful variety that works well with oak; the Palomino is more delicate, and the aging in smaller containers makes it quite expressive with notes of dry flowers, pollen and herbs, some spices and yellow plums. It has 13% alcohol, good freshness and balance and pure, pristine flavors, with a chalky and almost salty finish. 11,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2024. I tasted the 2019, and the evolution of aromas is quite surprising, getting very characterful and more complex with the salty twist, increasingly marine.
