Luis Gutierrez - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The new bright-red 2022 Clos Ancestral has a primary nose, fruit driven, young and fresh, with notes of fruits of the forest and aromatic herbs. It was produced with a blend of the recovered Moneu grape with Ull de Llebre (Tempranillo) and Garnacha Tinta from a dry and warm year. It's a shame that the blend doesn't show the character of the mysterious Moneu, which is said to ripen slowly and keep moderate alcohol and good acidity, but that's lost in a blend. The wine is fresh and delicate, medium-bodied, approachable and elegant, but I'd like to see Moneu on its own... They produced 42,000 liters of this.
