The terroir in Menetou-Salon is nearly identical to its northeastern neighbor: Kimmeridgian limestone soils, temperate climate (warm, short summers) and south facing vineyards. What's different about Menetou-Salon is that they've not had the intense marketing push that Sancerre has, but that favors us consumers; we get that same Sancerre style - crisp, brightly acidic and tremendously clean wine - at a fraction of the price. One of the finest versions I've ever tasted comes from Domaine de Loye - it's a summer white everyone should have at the ready!Â
