John Gilman - View from the Cellar
"The Girard family’s 2022 Florilege des Monts Damnés is absolutely superb. As readers may recall, this is the domaine’s old vine cuvée, with the vines seventy to eighty years of age, perched high up in the Monts Damnés. The wine is barrel-fermented and aged in older casks. The 2022 Florilege delivers marvelous precision on the nose, revealing notes of fresh lime, gooseberry, crystalline minerality, a lovely array of Monts Damnés botanicals, citrus peel and a delicate framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, focused and shows off lovely old vine depth at the core, with superb mineral drive and cut, a fine girdle of acidity, impeccable balance and a long, complex and vibrant finish. Great juice. 2024-2035."
