Raised in San Francisco, owner and winemaker Tom Rinaldi made
frequent trips to Napa on his motorcycle, buying wines directly
from the wineries of the day cementing his passion for wines. A. er
four years in the Navy, Tom enrolled in UC Davis with a cohort of
the most notable winemakers including Randy Dunn, Bob Levy,
Mike Martini, and Tim Mondavi.
Tom's winemaking career began at Freemark abbey, an
opportunity he calls “a great job, and a great honor.” In 1978 Tom
was a founding member of Duckhorn Vineyards, creating 22
vintages of some of Napa's most celebrated wines. Since then Tom
has repeatedly built world class wine estates from the ground up.
An acclaimed winemaker, Tom's wines have repeatedly been
praised by Wine Spectator as top wines of the world, and #1 wines
of California.
Born and Raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Eric Risch fulfilled his dream
of making wine and living in Napa Valley at the turn of the century
after a broad and impressive career ranging from professional
violinist, to residential construction, to Apple Computer R+D. Eric's
love and passion for wine is fulfilled with his role as Operations
Director, Sales and Marketing and founding member of Pellet
Estate. In addition to overseeing the portfolio, Eric serves as the
Vice President of the Board of Directors of Appellation St. Helena -
helping to promote and advance St Helena grape growing and
winemaking.
Patent Winery was formed to create exceptional wines of
distinction & excellence from site specific vineyards within an AVA.
From lengthy experience and know-how, paired with Bordeaux
best practices honed over 45 harvests, together, Tom and Eric
hand produce authentic wines.
