"Spiced and earthy with ripe red and dark fruit and hints of walnuts and cocoa. Medium- to full-bodied and dry with firm tannins. Polished, velvety aftertaste. Drink or hold."

"A deep red/magenta color, the 2022 Rosso Di Montalcino sees a portion of barrique for its aging and is ripe with aromas of black cherries, violets, and sweet herbs. Medium to full-bodied, it’s plush on the palate, with ripe tannins and a clean, iron-rich, mineral finish. Warming and generous, it’s a lovely Rosso that could give insight to what readers into what to expect for the style, which is not always the case in this region at the moment. Drink 2024-2030."

The Il Poggione 2022 Rosso di Montalcino has a point of cherry liqueur or Luxardo syrup that gives the bouquet a happy lift in an otherwise very hot and challenging vintage. You do get plenty of soft and ripe fruit over a simple, easy-drinking mouthfeel. Some 200,000 bottles were produced.
