The northwest quadrant of the appellation, a Brunello with a classic layout and impeccable tension, begins its aromas with cloves and red currants, then garrigue and shades of dogwood peel. Savoury drink, closes spicy and citric.

95 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com

Another perfumed beauty that shows rose, pine cone, red fruit and lilac aromas that follow through to a medium body with firm tannins and a lightly chewy finish. Savory and juicy. Best after 2027.

95 Raffaele Vecchione - WinesCritic.com

Dark and captivating, it displays notes of black plums, blackberries, cinchona, sandalwood, incense, juniper berries, wild thyme, nutmeg, and patchouli. Full-bodied, perfectly ripe tannins, and a harmonious and mellow finish that demonstrates solid progression and decisive quality. Powerful and layered. Better from 2028.

94 Bruce Sanderson - Wine Spectator

This red is saturated with macerated cherry, raspberry, pomegranate, floral and mineral flavors, despite an elegant profile. Flashes of menthol and eucalyptus add depth as this plays out on the lingering finish. Needs time. Best from 2029 through 2048. 5,000 cases made, 1,600 cases imported.

94 Eric Guido - Vinous Media

Depths of wild strawberry mix with flowery underbrush and crushed violets as the 2021 Brunello di Montalcino evolves in the glass. It is vibrant and racy in style, with crisp wild berry fruits and a cascade of inner floral perfumes. Nuances of sour citrus and inner cedar tones add complexity throughout. Its structure comes in late, crunchy and edgy, leaving a tart blackberry saturation that pinches at the cheek as steely mineral tones echo throughout. This is a high-energy Brunello from Sassetti with the balance for medium-term cellaring.

Product Description:

Sassetti Livio Pertimali is an Italian wine producer based in Montalcino, Tuscany, particularly known for its Brunello wines. Livio Sassetti was one of the founders of the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino in 1967. The business has remained family owned and operated for three generations. The Podere Pertimali has 16 hectares (40 acres) of vineyards on the Montosoli hill, north of Montalcino. Sassetti makes produces three Brunellos: a generic wine and a Riserva, plus a Rosso di Montalcino. As well as the more traditional wines, there is an IGT Toscana wine, Fili di Seta, which is a Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon blend. In 1999, the family purchased the La Querciolina property within the Montecucco DOC on the Tuscan coast. Sassetti Livio Pertimali produces a varietal Sangiovese from that appellation, as well as a Maremma Toscana red wine named Istriciaia, a blend of Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo. In addition, Sassetti's portfolio includes a Prosecco Superiore Brut and a Prosecco Rosé.
