"The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Basilica San Martino is living a beautiful moment in its evolution. This classic vintage shows elegant primary tones, but it also offers complexity in the form of licorice, earth, forest floor and dried rose. Fruit comes from Panzano in Chianti, probably the most beautiful spot in Tuscany especially as far as sunsets are measured. The wine is silky and streamlined throughout. The blend is 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. Some 22,000 bottles were made."

"A firm, chewy red with currant and cherry character and polished yet chewy tannins. Medium-bodied, fresh and flavorful. 85% sangiovese, 10% cabernet sauvignon and 5% cabernet franc. Drink after 2022, when the tannins will have softened."
