" Our vineyards – our story We have long been at home here in Oberhausen on the Nahe River, in the exceptionally scenic valley between Niederhausen and Schloßböckelheim. And this has been the case for over 250 years. The first records of the Dönnhoff family date back to 1761, and the family chronicle meticulously documents early grape blossoms (1781) and a bountiful grape harvest (1784). Helmut Dönnhoff's grandfather laid the foundation for the success of our winery. Hermann Dönnhoff (1880-1953) focused early on cultivating Riesling grapes in prime locations. As early as the 1920s, he was bottling his best wines and selling them under vineyard names. We owe his son, Hermann Jr. (1916-1991), not only the cultivation of our "Oberhäuser Brücke" vineyard, but also the construction of the winery's press house in 1936 and the first cellars of the estate.
