I have been working full-time on approximately 3 hectares of vineyards in the Arbois AOC since 1996. The vines are planted entirely in the commune of Vadans, a small village of 300 inhabitants located north of Arbois, overlooked by the ruins of a 12th-century castle. The southeast-facing slopes provide ample sunshine, allowing the grapes to ripen quite early.
The quality of my wines depends primarily on the health of the grapes. To achieve this, meticulous vineyard work is essential: respecting the soil with light machinery and employing the most environmentally friendly maintenance practices possible (cover cropping every other row, tilling the soil with a spade in the spring followed by hoeing with a horse in June), and weeding is carried out only under the vines. Fungicide treatments are limited to six per year. The harvest is done by hand, and the sorting in the vineyard is very rigorous.
