The 2022 Pernand Vergelesses Rouge Les Fichots 1e Cru has a backward nose that needs encouragement in the glass, revealing dark berry fruit mixed with graphite and a whiff of gunpowder (that smell you get after a firework has taken off). The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy entry and moderate depth. This is lightly spiced, with an earthy finish that doesn't quite deliver the panache of Rollin's Les Cloux tasted alongside.
