From three plots. Crimson of medium density. The nose leaps out less than the Bourgogne. An excellent intensity, with impressive weight for a village Rully, I wouldn’t have expected as much. There is interesting detail beneath, rather than staying monotone. The tannins are well integrated within this degree of fruit. Buy this if you see it. Drink from 2025-2028. Tasted Apr 2024.

Product Description:

Vincent Dureuil-Janthial is an estate producer, that extends for over 20 hectares (49 acres), primarily in Côte Chalonnaise but also Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. The Dureuil's family has been producing wine in the village of Rully since the 13th Century. Premier cru vineyards include the Le Meix Cadot, Margotés, La Fosse and Chapitre in Rully as well as Les Champs Gains in Puligny-Montrachet. Since inheriting the domaine in 1994, Celine and Vincent Dureuil have employed organic farming practices across the entire estate. Grapes are all hand-picked to preserve integrity. Natural yeasts are employed for fermentation in the winery in temperature controlled open fermenters. The wines spend 18 months in barrel with the portion of new oak depending on the vintage, up to 30 percent is the standard for Dureuil-Janthial. The white wines are fermented in barrel for 16-18 months after a staunch pressing from skins to extract ample solid content. The wines are bottled unfiltered and unfined with all movement in the cellar following the lunar calendar.
