Clear fresh mid purple, really classy nose despite a fractional pyrazine. Lovely suavity to the fruit which covers the structure and hides the pyrazine. The cherry side of strawberry, and the wood has really helped. Chapeau for 2021! Drink from now-2027.

Product Description:

Clos de la Roilette is a wine producer based in the Beaujolais cru commune of Fleurie. The winery produces a core range of three red Fleurie wines: the flagship Clos de la Roilette; the old vines Clos de la Roilette Cuvée Tardive; and the top cuvée, La Griffe du Marquis. Spanning a total of nine hectares (22 acres), the estate also produces a number of special cuvées as well as other wines, such as a Brouilly or a Moulin-à-Vent, under the Domaine Coudert label (Clos de la Roilette is owned and run by the Coudert family). The winery and clos (the "clos" title denotes a walled, or formerly walled vineyard) itself lies on the eastern edge of the Fleurie commune, close to the border with Romaneche-Thorins (one of the communes, along with Chénas, that constitutes the Moulin-à-Vent appellation). Indeed, it is Clos de la Roilette's proximity to Moulin-à-Vent (the east-facing vineyard slopes overlook Romaneche-Thorins) that is part of its origin story.
