Bright fresh purple. A brilliantly exuberant nose, floral and fine, with a fabulous depth behind. One of several startlingly fine wines from Echezeaux this year, I think. Coming after the power of the Cortons, we can see a fine elegance here. Tasted: December 2021.

The 2020 Échezeaux Grand Cru Les Rouges du Bas bursts with aromas of ripe cherries, berries and plums, mingled with notions of rose petals, raw cocoa and loamy soil. Full-bodied, ample and dramatic, it's broad and enveloping, with succulent acids and a rich core of fruit.
