"This is a blend of two well-regarded vineyards, Lucky Well and Silver Eagle, both farmed by Ulises Valdez. It casts a considerable shadow of brawn and beauty, balancing strawberry-puree flavors with an earthy undertone of forest pine. Big-boned, it alternates between richness and freshness."

One of the big factors that makes this wine special is the source of the grapes. Only 8 miles from the shore line, the grapes are sourced from two vineyards managed at the time by the late and legendary vineyard manager, Ulises Valdez. The Lucky Wells Vineyards is filled with sandy solis much like vineyards of the southern Rhone. The Southern slopes of these vineyards are exposed to maximum sunlight and is the source of the fruit notes in the wine. The second vineyard is the Silver Eagle Vineyard, also slopes facing south, but the soil is rich with clay and iron which is where the wine gets its savory depth and structure.
This Pinot Noir has the flavor of a full bodied red with finesse and the elegant structure of a Pinot Noir. A really great wine from a really great producer.
