"The new 2011 Cuvée Especial is an 80/20 blend of Malbec and Cabernet Franc fermented together in used barrels and matured in them for 24 months. The fruit is mainly from Altamira and there is a part from La Consulta too. There is power, ripeness and freshness on the modern nose that is well-oaked with notes of plums and violets. The palate is full-bodied, has earthy tannins and a nice texture that ends dry with that earthy, chalky and austere minerality from Altamira. This will be much better with more time in bottle as it has all the ingredients for nice evolution in bottle. A powerful red blend 4,000 bottles produced."
