A 70/30 split of Grenache and Syrah brought up all in concrete tanks, the 2017 Gigondas gives up a charming, sweetly fruited, yet nicely structured vibe to go with notes of blackberries, smoked earth, graphite, and obvious minerality. I like its balance, and despite some underlying tannic grip, it shows the forward, fleshy style of the vintage nicely.

Deep, bright-hued ruby. Powerful red/blue fruit, floral and garrigue scents show good clarity and take on a spicy nuance as the wine opens up. In a fleshy, open-knit style. Offering sappy black raspberry and blueberry flavors and a sweetening touch of candied licorice. The blue fruit note drives a long, supple finish that's given shape by discreet, velvety tannins.
