Wonderfully discreet floral nose, then a release of flavour across the palate. This is so measured, and refined, classically composed, with the texture and density you'd hope for, but also wonderful freshness and precision. Fine warm spice rears up on the finish. More renaissance than baroque, the exotic sweetness of the variety is very gently rendered. Altenbourg is a vineyard that sits just below Furstentum, Grand Cru in all but name, producing wines that are slightly less full bodied than it’s neighbour, yet with all the aromatic interest.
