Blended with 10% whole bunch, the 2019 Moulin-à-Vent Vieilles Vignes was acutely affected by millerandage and yields were just 8–10hl/ha. This has a well-defined bouquet of blueberry and black plum aromas, the whole bunch neatly interwoven. The palate is well balanced with juicy ripe black fruit, fine acidity and very good structure on the finish. An excellent Moulin-à-Vent.
91 William Kelley - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2019 Moulin-à-Vent Vieilles Vignes is attractive, bursting with aromas of cherries, sweet berry fruit, rose petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and lively, it's deep and layered, framed by powdery tannins and bright acids. This has turned out well.
Product Description:
One of a growing number of Côte d'Or producers to acquire land in the Beaujolais, Louis Boillot—whose wines I taste every year in the cellars in Chambolle-Musigny that he shares with his spouse, Ghislaine Barthod—is producing superb examples of Moulin-à-Vent and Fleurie. Today, it's their son Clément who has taken over the reins. Classically vinified and given an unusually long élevage by the standards of the region, these are serious, elegantly muscular cru Beaujolais built to age with grace, and they come warmly recommended. The 2019 vintage was another comparatively early harvest at this address, and this choice has been vindicated by a beautifully balanced portfolio that's one of the most elegant that this new domaine has produced to date. - William Kelley
