"Truly drop-dead gorgeous is the 2007 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Mazzano. I think the 2007 vintage is one of the best expressions of Mazzano ever made. This is a finely elaborate and intriguing vinous creation that shines bright like a piece of classic marble sculpture. There is a subtle gloss and patina to the wine that gives it extra smoothness and silkiness to the touch. Likewise, its aromas of white mineral, spice, blackcurrant and licorice are finely etched and defined. Timeless Mazzano will keep in your cellar for ten years or more. "

"This Amarone offers more savory notes than sweet fruit, with tightly knit flavors of black olive, dried herb and seared mushroom, accented by hints of ground anise and pepper. Delivers depth and length, showing a hint of date on the lasting, minerally finish. Drink now through 2029. 1,158 cases made."

Product Description:

"An austere and majestic cru, the prototype of Amarone, it draws its unique and instantly identifiable style from the eponymous vineyard, with its ideal Vineyard orientation and all-important altitude. Friable hummus-rich limestone feeds the vines and gives them great personality. The grapes concentrate their aromas during the natural drying process in the drying lofts during the cold winter months. The noble austerity found in this wine is mitigated by soft tannins and velvety elegance.

In the 1950s, Masi was a pioneer in establishing the cru or “single vineyard” concept in Italy. The company’s Amarone and Recioto wines from historic cru vineyards are excellent expressions of the different terroir sites in the Valpolicella region, which endow the wines with unique style and typical, easily-recognisable characteristics." -Winery
