"Sleek acidity and a subtle, spicy underpinning drive this vivacious Champagne, which offers a fresh, appealing mix of nectarine, candied ginger, almond biscotti and fleur de sel notes. Drink now through 2020. Tasted twice, with consistent notes." -November 30, 2017
Founded in 1830, Champagne Philippe Gonet is located in the heart of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, literally a stone’s throw from icons Champagne Salon and Clos du Mesnil. Chardonnay is the grape of choice, with 19 hectares planted in 11 different villages. One-third of their Chardonnay sites are in Le Mesnil, with one historical parcel planted in 1929. Today the estate is run by the seventh-generation brother-and-sister team of Pierre and Chantal Gonet. They have continued to elevate the house as a reference for Chardonnay from Le Mesnil with wines of marked structure that express the rich, pure, nuanced and mineral character of the terroir of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.
