The NV (2018) Brut Blanc de Blancs d'A每 is fabulous. It offers up copious scents of lemon confit, tangerine oil spice, mint and lightly honeyed top notes. Rich and resonant in the glass, with tremendous palate presence, the Blanc de Blancs d'A每 is one of the highlights in this range and also one of the most singular wines in all of Champagne. Chardonnay in A每 is so compelling. Best of all, the Blanc de Blancs, bottled as a NV but a vintage Champagne, is a fabulous value. Disgorged: March, 2022.

A每's vineyards are planted in clay and limestone subsoils over chalk, on a steep slope heading down towards the village itself, affectionately known as the "Cit茅 du Champagne''. The best sections of the vineyard are towards the bottom of the slope, near the town center where sun exposure is plentiful and protection from the wind comes naturally. It's here, in the 1930s, where Gaston Chiquet (Nicolas' grandfather) planted his Chardonnay vines while everyone else was growing and harvesting Pinot Noir. Not to halt his innovation or contradictory approach there, he also parted from the norm by bottling his own wines, as opposed to selling off the grapes or juice to larger houses as was customary - a formula that served as the foundation for today's popular "Grower" movement.
