There is enough wood to merit pointing out on the smoky aromas of spice, petrol and acacia blossom. Once again there is a lovely texture to the vibrant, rich and nicely detailed medium-bodied flavors that also conclude in a lemony and sneaky long finish that is quite dry but not really austere. This stony effort is a wine of finesse and balance that could use better depth so a few years of keeping should prove beneficial.

The 2021 Puligny Chalumaux 1er Cru offers light apple blossom and dewy meadow scents, a little austere at present. The palate is better than the aromatics with decent weight, good extract, peach skin, pear and a touch of spice leading to a fine cohesive finish. This should drink well for six to ten years.
