About

Ratings:

92-94

"Notes of green apple, citrus zest, mineral reduction and soft floral nuances introduce powerful and punchy broad-shouldered flavors that possess a textured mouth feel before culminating in an almost painfully intense finish that goes on and on. This is really quite good and it's a wine that should be approachable after only a few years of bottle age yet reward up to a decade of cellaring."

93 Wine Spectator

"A good dose of smoky new oak offsets the vibrant structure and stony apple notes in this intense white. Remains tightly wound and long, with the flavors persisting on the finish. Well-balanced from start to finish. Best from 2019 through 2029. 46 cases imported."

Product Description:

"Domaine Faiveley combines the principles of modern winemaking methods with the time honored traditions that have been practiced for centuries within their 19th century cellars. Each terroir and each vintage, benefits from special attention which makes the cuvées unique. Each bottle therefore becomes the faithful reflection of its terroir.

Terroir: The hillside Grand Cru Corton Charlemagne is the largest of the white Grand Crus and the only one north of the city of Beaune. This large 175 acre vineyard occupies the top portion of the hillside above the red Grand Cru of Corton and spans between the villages of Pernand-Vergelesses in the south(west) to Aloxe-Corton directly below in the north. Terroirs vary significantly between the due south facing parcels of Pernand-Vergellesses and eastern exposures of Aloxe-Corton. Domaine Faiveley owns a single 1.5 acre parcel of vines running west to east down the hillside in the northern portion of the vineyard directly above the village of Aloxe-Corton. Vines sit in soils of grey marl with a due easterly exposure.

Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested and sorted upon arrival at the domaine. The grapes are cold fermented entirely in oak prior to aging in the cellars for 14-16 months in a combination of new and used oak. New barrels represent approximately 70% of the selection." -Importer
