Penley Estate is a prominent wine producer of the Coonawarra wine region in South Australia. The winery was established in 1988 and today specializes in producing terroir-driven Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon based wines.
Penley Estate was founded by the Tolley children whom of which are continuing the winemaking heritage of their pioneering family. The family counts Mary Penfold as an ancestor who was the driving force behind Magill Estate of Penfolds. Today, the estate is run by sisters Bec and Ang Tolley.
The Penley estate vineyard is composed of 97 hectares (240 acres) of predominantly Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, planted between 1989 and 2000. Small portions are also planted to Merlot and Cabernet Franc on the terra-rossa soil types that the region is famous for.
The Penley Estate wine portfolio is led by the Helios Cabernet Sauvignon of which is barrel-aged in French oak. It is complimented with the Eos of which is a Shiraz-based blend with approximately 30 percent portion of Cabernet Savignon depending on the vintage. Other Cabernet Sauvignon wines in the collection include the Project "E" and the Francis.
Beyond red blends, there are two varietal Chardonnay wines in the portfolio. The Aradia and the Genevieve of which is sourced from the Adelaide Hills subregion of Kuitpo.
