This rich, ripe wine starts off with a hedonistic nose. It booms from the glass with cassis, quince paste and prune, and the palate layers on a thick dose of allspice and creosote. The palate is dense and thickly concentrated—so much so that its texture resembles Port. However, this effusive red is resolutely dry. The tannins are sleek in structure, and the medium acidity is discreet yet hardworking. The palate is packed with black currants that linger into the long finish. Drink now–2027.
