The Tasting Panel
It is a
pleasure to see a Napa Cabernet released
four and a half years after the fruit was
picked and an even greater pleasure to
find that it was made in a style that fully
takes advantage of its time in bottle. The
oak influence is subtle, enabling the fruit’s
intricacies to reveal themselves over time
with aeration. It’s a thoroughly satisfying
Cabernet thanks to its proportionality and
detail, which is demonstrated above all in a
persistent and symmetrical finish.
Product Description:
2019 Sweetwater Cabernet Sauvignon is a testament to the unique growing season.
With a cooler spring and a splendid harvest, we chose to dial back on new oak, allowing the
natural acidity of the fruit to shine. Vinification and aging followed traditional methods, with
Remond and Treuil's artisan barrels lending their touch. The wine was bottled in late summer
2020.
The vintage of 2019 was truly remarkable, with abundant and deeply flavored wines. The
weather graced us with ideal conditions for fruit set, following generous rainfall in February.
From spring to late July, the temperatures were ideal, nurturing the vines until veraison. Harvest
time brought cool temperatures without rain, offering extended hang-time for enhanced flavors.
Just like its predecessor, the acclaimed 2018 vintage, 2019 showcases the greatness of Napa
Valley across all varieties and styles. This elegant Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of the finest
vineyards, crafted with care. It beckons with alluring aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, and
subtle hints of caramel and black licorice, captivating your senses from the first whiff.
With a gentle entry, the wine reveals a chorus of ripe fruits and echoes of black cherry on the
palate. The plush texture is accompanied by a mild tannin structure, reminding you of its
Cabernet Sauvignon origin. The finish is an intricate tapestry of flavors, weaving layers of
cherry, blackberry, and dark plum. - winemaker
