Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
"Always a reliable name, this has tight tannins but shows clear finesse even at this early stage, with plenty of Médoc signature. Restrained but juicy cassis and blueberry fruits, this is well balanced and easy to recommend. A joint project of consultants Edouard Massie, Henri Boyer, Antoine Médeville, Emilien Delalande and Thomas Marquant, located in the commune of Saint Yzans du Médoc, certified HVE3 and Terra Vitis."

"This is very perfumed with fresh flowers and sweet berries on the nose. It's medium-bodied with creamy, polished tannins and a linear finish. Thought-provoking with finesse. Try after 2023."

I evidently underestimated the 2019 Fleur la Mothe when I reviewed it from bottle earlier this year, as the wine is performing outstandingly today. Offering up aromas of cassis, ripe berries, sweet soil tones and cigar wrapper, it's medium-bodied, fleshy and vibrant, with powdery tannins and an attractive core of fruit. A sleeper of the vintage, it offers a broad drinking window—and great value.

"The 2019 Fleur La Mothe has retained the well-defined, focused bouquet of cedar-infused black fruit that gains intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, and still that stony note infusing the black fruit. The "cool" finish lingers in the mouth. Excellent."

"The 2019 Fleur La Mothe is a blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Petit Verdot. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, it skips out of the glass with notes of Morello cherries and black raspberries with a core of cassis, cedar, and violets. The medium-bodied palate is skillfully crafted with plush tannins and a lively backbone supporting the elegant fruit, finishing perfumed."
