This Special Cuvee of La Croix de Beaucaillou comes from the vineyards of Ducru-Beaucaillou. Whats truly special about this wine is the oak cask it was aged in. A 45 hectoliters ovoid cask that was built exclusively from the oak of the magnificent “Morat” tree. The last oak tree of the Royal forest of Tronçais, 350 years in age, planted by order of Jean-Baptiste Colbert, then Minister of the Marine to Louis XIV. Cut down in 2006 and purchased at auction about 10 years ago by Bruno Borie, owner Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou.
