"A huge, voluptuous wine, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is absolutely gorgeous. In this vintage, the blend includes 10% Cabernet Franc, which seems to add structure and aromatic nuance. The 2012 is going to need time to shed some baby fat, but it is strikingly beautiful, even at this early stage. This voluptuous, racy Cabernet is pure 2012. This is a gorgeous set of wines from Rosemary Cakebread. Sadly, there isn't a whole lot to go around. Cakebread makes essentially two lines; the Suzuri wines take their inspiration from Rhone varieties, while the Cabernet is pure Napa Valley. The Gallica Cabernet Sauvignon is made mostly from vineyards in St. Helena, although in recent years Cakebread has begun to use more fruit from Oakville Ranch, the Cabernet Franc in particular. Stylistically, the Gallica wines are built on fruit and textural polish."
